The Team You Will Join 

The US Procurement Partnering team is part of the Global Procurement organization. This team combines industry-standard category management and sourcing functions, focusing on collaboration with business partners to develop category strategies, source new business requirements, and manage existing costs and contracts. The Procurement Partnering team is on an exciting transformation journey, aiming to expand spend coverage through renewed relationships, streamlined processes and enhanced technologies. 


The Opportunity

  • The Sr. Consultant, Procurement Partnering will be a member of our combined category management and sourcing function.  As a part of this function the Sr. Consultant will have responsibility for supporting Marketing, Human Resources, Operations and/or USB.  
  • Support will span all indirect categories with an emphasis on Marketing (including print and promotional), Human Resources (including contingent labor), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and Software (SaaS)
  • The Procurement Partner’s primary goal is to collaborate with stakeholders to best enhance its procurement practices within the guidelines and policies of MetLife. This partnership can involve various functional support to a Line of Business (LoB), such as sourcing new suppliers, managing existing costs and renewals, and/or improving supply chain efficiency.
  • The goal is to leverage the procurement partner’s expertise and resources to achieve better purchasing outcomes and drive strategic value for the line of business.

 

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Strategic Procurement – Support development and implementation of category management strategies that align with business objectives, ensuring optimal sourcing and channel management across multiple business units.
  • Spend & Category Management - Oversee and analyze a designated portion of the team’s overall $500+ million in managed spend, identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment between procurement activities and business needs. Collaborate closely with internal teams to support their procurement requirements.
  • Market Analysis - Stay informed of industry trends and market dynamics to leverage best practices and innovative solutions relevant to primary categories. Apply market intelligence and benchmarking tools to accomplish the best possible outcomes on individual negotiations.

 

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience in related fields)
  • 7+ years of experience in indirect procurement or supply chain management, with experience in both category management and sourcing.
  • Experience being a member of a globally distributed, large-scale procurement teams
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at using Excel and leading business intelligence  tools
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiar with procurement software and tools; experience with leading procurement orchestration tools, CLMs and Ariba helpful.

The salary range for applicants for this position is 105,000-124,000.
