The Opportunity
The Derivatives Accounting and Reporting Analyst is responsible for the preparation, review, and oversight of derivative accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across MetLife’s legal entities in the United States. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with US GAAP, regulatory requirements, and supporting MetLife’s commitment to financial integrity and transparency.

The role offers strong exposure to regulatory reporting (10Q/10K, statutory and Federal Reserve filings) and the ability to drive process improvements in a highly controlled environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the preparation and review of derivative accounting entries, reconciliations, and US GAAP quarterly and annual disclosures (10Q/10K footnotes).
• Create efficient reporting processes and documentation to ensure compliance, audit readiness, and consistency in financial reporting.
• Oversee data integrity and reporting accuracy related to derivative instruments across systems and stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (Investments, CAR) and external auditors to support timely and accurate reporting.
• Develop and enhance internal controls and procedures to improve quality, reliability, and compliance of accounting processes.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of reporting processes.
Required Qualifications
• Degree in Accounting or Finance, applying strong technical accounting knowledge to complex derivative transactions and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to analyze complex accounting issues, work independently in evolving environments, and implement best practices.
• Experience working in results-oriented environments with a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
• 6+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting, ideally with exposure to derivative instruments or investments.
• CPA, MBA, or other advanced degree, supporting advanced technical accounting and reporting capabilities.
• Experience driving process improvements and implementing changes in controlled, regulated environments.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to financial accuracy and transparency.
