The Opportunity
The Functional Analyst / Technical Functional Analyst is a hands-on delivery role focused on functional analysis, system behavior definition, and technical collaboration within MetLife’s technology landscape. The role translates business requirements into precise functional designs that can be implemented, tested, and operated reliably. Acting at the intersection of business, IT delivery, and vendors, the analyst ensures solutions are technically feasible, well-specified, and aligned with MetLife’s New Frontier strategy by improving solution quality, reducing rework, and enabling predictable delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead functional discovery and requirements workshops focused on system behavior, data flows, integrations, and business rules.
- Create detailed, implementation-ready functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process definitions.
- Oversee functional gap analysis between business needs and existing systems, identifying configuration vs. customization options.
- Manage functional ownership of applications in production, including incident analysis, defect triage, and root cause analysis.
- Develop BPMN-based process models, functional flows, and future-state designs defining system responsibilities and handoffs.
- Coordinate and actively support functional, integration, and user acceptance testing including scenario design and defect resolution.
Required Qualifications (Functional + Technical Essentials)
- University degree in a technical or business-related field with practical application in functional system analysis.
- Strong experience in functional specification writing including business rules, data mappings, and interface behavior.
- Solid understanding of system integrations including REST APIs, web services, and message-based integration.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data validation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with JIRA, Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow for requirements, testing, and incident management.
- Ability to analyze production issues end-to-end from business impact to technical root cause.
- Working understanding of AI concepts and experience applying productivity tools as part of their day-to-day work to support effective data driven work and delivery effectiveness.
- Strong communication skills enabling collaboration with developers, testers, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Working proficiency in Czech and English (Intermediate level).
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a Functional Analyst or Technical Business Analyst role.
- Experience with SaaS / COTS platforms including functional configuration and support.
- Experience working in Agile delivery models (Scrum, SAFe).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release processes from a functional readiness perspective.
- Domain experience in insurance, claims, or policy administration systems.
