The Opportunity

The National Accounts Senior Account Executive is responsible for the sales, retention, and growth of customers with 5,000 or more covered lives in the Northeastern U.S. Guided by MetLife’s purpose—always with you, building a more confident future—this role plays a critical part in achieving top- and bottom-line results by delivering strategic benefit solutions aligned to customer objectives.

This is a highly visible, consultative role offering the opportunity to distribute MetLife’s full Group Benefits portfolio, build long-term executive relationships, and act as a trusted advisor in a complex, matrixed environment.




Key Responsibilities
  • Own the sales, retention, and profitability of a national accounts book of business (5,000+ lives) in the Northeastern U.S.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans, positioning MetLife’s full Group Benefits portfolio through customers, brokers, and consultants.
  • Build and sustain executive-level client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary benefits resource.
  • Identify, structure, and deliver profitable growth opportunities, including new sales, renewals, and expansions.
  • Lead post-sale activities including issue resolution, case implementation support, reporting, and internal coordination.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in B2B sales or client relationship management in Group Benefits with demonstrated success.
  • Strong consultative selling and communication skills, including negotiation, influence, and executive presentations.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and creatively, supported by financial acumen and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Valid Life & Health and Property & Casualty licenses, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Valid FINRA license, or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.
  • A top candidate will be located in the NY or New England area for optimal territory coverage.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in B2B sales or client management in Group Benefits.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.


The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 plus Sales Incentive.  This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
