The Opportunity

The Senior Vice President of Enterprise Data Engineering is responsible for defining and executing MetLife’s enterprise data engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring that data platforms, architecture, and infrastructure enable business growth, innovation, operational excellence, and digital transformation across the global enterprise. This role plays a critical part in building scalable, secure, and modern data capabilities that allow MetLife to leverage data as a strategic asset while supporting evolving business, analytics, AI, and technology priorities.


This is an exciting opportunity to lead the transformation of MetLife’s global data ecosystem, shaping the future of enterprise data, analytics, and AI capabilities while delivering the foundational platforms that power innovation and business value at scale.


Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the enterprise data engineering strategy, leveraging Cloud and AI to align with business goals.
  • Oversee design and implementation of enterprise-wide data platforms and tools, establishing best practices for data integration, pipelines, architecture, and self-service options.
  • Create and execute a comprehensive global data program strategy to simplify and modernize legacy data systems and tools, ensuring data agility, scalability, and quality.
  • Work with the security team to implement data privacy, encryption, and access control strategies.
  • Incorporate AI and machine learning solutions into the data ecosystem to enhance legacy modernization and data democratization efforts.
  • Lead a high-performing team of data professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Data and Analytics, Technology, and Business leaders to enable seamless data accessibility and utilization.

Required Qualifications
  • 20+ years of experience and knowledge in data engineering tools and strategies, including 10+ years in senior leadership roles within large and matrixed organizations.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholders across all levels of the organization and cultivate strong partnerships, being able to influence and communicate the organizations direction and ensure results are achieved.
  • Strong knowledge of database management, data architecture and modern data and cloud technologies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading large-scale cloud data modernization and transformation programs, including migration from legacy environments to modern cloud-native data platforms. 
  • Experience within insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries, with a strong understanding of data security, privacy, risk, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated success leveraging AI to accelerate data democratization, improve business outcomes, and drive enterprise innovation.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.


The expected salary range for this position is 300,000 - 375,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
