Role Value Proposition
Seeking a detailed-oriented and analytical Reinsurance Implementation Specialist to manage and support our reinsurance operations. This role is critical in ensuring the effective transfer of risk through reinsurance contracts, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and optimizing our risk exposure. Responsible for the successful reconciliation and data management of participant indicative data and the technical implementation for new Pension Risk Transfer (Closeout) sales. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance and reinsurance principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and complete various reinsurance administrative tasks such as:
o Monthly Benefit Payment transfers
o Monthly Expense Allowance transfers
o Special quarterly benefit payment true up
o Working with the Global Reinsurance Admin and Reporting teams on any issues and discrepancies
o Working with reinsurance carriers on any benefit discrepancies
o Preparing the initial true-up and amendment census compare files based on case-specific quota share
o Working with the Investments team on any accounting adjustments
o Working with IT on Reinsurance Strategic projects and transfer automation
- Support Actuarial, Pricing, Reinsurance Admin and Finance teams with data and analysis for pricing, premium adjustments, reserving and reporting - including Gold Copy Policy list review and final data certification
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards and maintain accurate records and documentation in applicable systems and databases.
- Ability to successfully reconcile participant indicative data and develop expertise related to the technical aspects of employee benefits and pension contracts
- Support Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) initiatives and projects as needed through demonstrated knowledge of employee benefit and pension plans and systems used in their administration
- Working autonomously, utilize product knowledge to perform complex technical implementation and data management/reconciliation tasks for new Pension Risk Transfer (Closeout) sales that includes interpreting contracts provisions and reviewing initial contract drafts to verify that MetLife systems are capable to support the provisions and suggest system enhancements as needed
- Provide effective end-to-end support for IT process improvements
- Document potential improvements, develop recommendations for manager approval, coordinate with IT to document the business requirements, perform UAT and review test results
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- 4+ years of experience in Reinsurance Administration
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, advanced in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work autonomously, effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines appropriately and remain flexible
Preferred:
- Pension and Retirement Benefits and/or Pension Risk Transfer Experience
- Experience with Alteryx
- Team leadership and team building skills
- Strong project management skills including problem solving, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and decisiveness
