Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) is a part of MetLife’s U.S. Business and issues products for transferred pension liabilities, stable value, institutional income annuities, structured settlements, and a range of risk solutions that include benefits funding, corporate- and bank-owned life insurance and other specialty products. It is one of the largest U.S. segments in MetLife and is driven through a relentless belief in MetLife’s purpose, “Always With You, Building a More Confident Future”.

 

The RIS Customer Solutions and Strategic Operations (CSSO) team has responsibility for guiding multiple initiatives that help to power and improve the daily operations of the business. These include enhancing customer experience, optimizing critical processes, hardening controls, developing and filing contracts, and various operational and administrative projects needed to support the range of RIS products.


The Opportunity 

We are seeking someone who is eager to roll up their sleeves, learn new skills, and help business and functional teams deliver new solutions that accelerate our growth. This is a dual focus role that splits time equally between supporting the CSSO leaders with general administrative duties, such as budget tracking and expense management, and working closely with our Agile Portfolio Management (APM) team on activities that support critical programs. The role is intended to be a springboard to other opportunities over time by providing learnings experiences that build a strong foundation of skills and an understanding of the retirement space.

To succeed, the candidate must be highly organized, self-motivated, digitally-savvy, able to take clear direction, and able to learn new processes, platforms and tools. The role also requires strong partnership and collaboration with a broad range of individuals at all levels.


How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
  • Support the department head and direct reports with calendar management, travel arrangements, expense reporting, budget tracking and other key department activities.
  • Partner with functional team leads to plan and execute high-level meetings and workshops.
  • Assist in preparing briefs, presentations, reports and other materials for meetings and program reviews.
  • Assist with department initiatives, such as employee satisfaction surveys, coordination of skills and capability training, and team culture development.
  • Assist the Director, APM in the management of the RIS Strategic Portfolio. This includes:
    • Establish and maintain the digital repository and file structure for the RIS Strategic Portfolio.
    • Assist with standardized documentation such as project scope, project plans, timelines, and process maps.
    • Organize and archive documentation for completed projects.
    • Assist in managing portfolio tools, templates, and metrics reporting within project management platforms.
    • Ensure data quality in project tracking and team member allocation across the portfolio.
    • Own meeting invites for leadership updates and coordinate with agile team leads to ensure timely creation of meeting content.
  • Assist Senior, Agile Project Managers with key strategic projects. This includes:
    • Document notes, key decisions, and action items via Copilot and share takeaways with stakeholders.
    • Support creation of project status updates for forums such as the RIS Strategic Portfolio Sync and leadership updates.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
  • 2+ years of experience supporting detail intensive work in a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams), SharePoint, and AI tools such as Copilot.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Curiosity and willingness to take on work or new challenges without detailed guidance.
 What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
 
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Self-starter with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively manage priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with leaders across functions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities with a strong customer-service mindset.
  • Experience with project management or workflow tools.
  • Understanding of agile principles and practices.
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $62,300 - $83,100. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
