The Team 

The position sits within the newly consolidated Data and Analytics (D&A) organization supporting MetLife's U.S. Business. U.S. D&A assists all business lines of MetLife’s U.S. business (about 2/3 of MetLife Global by earnings) with everything related to data, data analytics, and data science, from data infrastructure, data governance, data engineering, data modeling, and data analysis to business intelligence, data science, and AI.  

 

The Role 

MetLife Data & Analytics organization is the team of expert analysts and technologists responsible for building big data platforms and data services with innovative technologies to enable MetLife businesses to generate insights and value for its customers. The team is the center of excellence in data engineering at MetLife. It plays a key role in data enablement and insight generation through multiple data stores, supporting analytical use cases to derive predictive, prescriptive, and descriptive insights. 

 

MetLife is seeking an experienced Lead Data Management Consultant for Disability Data Migration, within the Disability and Life Pillar under the US Business Data and Analytics Organization. The Lead Data Management Consultant for Disability Data Migration will be the subject matter expert and lead data analyst for Disability products business processes and data design. The person will be the champion and owner of establishing the Data Governance and data management practice within the disability data domains. Data management specialists will design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level processes and procedures to ensure data management and database implementation effectiveness. They also serve as the data expert and the backbone of the engineering and analytics life cycle, responsible for requirement gathering, solutioning, and planning. The individual will collaborate with all the project stakeholders (technical leads, build team, project managers, and business/operations teams) to deliver solutions across the use cases. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Lead Daily Scrum Calls and ART/Agile ceremonies. 
  • Oversee team priorities and ensure alignment with business goals.  
  • Refine the lead backlog/features to define future enhancements in close consultation with the business leads and product owners. 
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating multiple and complex BI and ELT changes
  • Leads and consults with expert technical knowledge on database design, implementation, integration, and support of data, databases, data pipeline, reporting, and dashboards. 
  • Ensure that data and database projects adhere to data standards 
  • Work with business, reporting, and insights teams and data scientists to translate given business problems into analytical solutions with defined outcomes. 
  • Responsible for consulting the IT team and business management on stakeholders; applying business systems analysis methodology and techniques to fulfill business opportunities  
  • Analyze the data in depth, using SQL and other exploration tools against various platforms such as Big Data, Azure, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.  

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline. 
  • 8+ years of development experience, including 5+ years in data management/engineering organization. 
  • Experience in SAFe Agile to lead program deliveries and lead all relevant Agile principles and routines.
  • Ability to interact with senior leadership teams in IT and business. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and data exploration tools, experience writing validation scripts to validate the data, data integrations, and ETL transformations.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working on Big Data and BI projects
  • Strong background or work experience in the Insurance Industry. 

 

Location 

This position will be in Bridgewater, NJ, NY, NY, or the Cary, NC MetLife office.


The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 - $170,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
