The Team You Will Join 

This position sits within the Data & Analytics (D&A) organization supporting the U.S. Business of MetLife. U.S. D&A assists all business lines of MetLife’s U.S. business with everything related to data, analytics, and data science, from data infrastructure, data governance, data engineering, data modeling, data analysis to business intelligence, data science, and AI.

The Opportunity 

MetLife is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive Data & Analytics initiatives for RIS business unit.

Reporting directly to AVP, Head of MDM and RIS, the Technical Lead will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of production-grade data hubs and analytics solutions, bringing technical thought leadership and hands-on expertise in cloud data platforms, data architecture, data engineering, DevOps and agile delivery. This role requires technical expertise, strategic mindset, strong team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to accelerate business value through innovative data solutions.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Lead the full product development lifecycle for Data, analytics & AI solutions: problem identification, analysis, scope definition, solution design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for solution architecture, data modeling, engineering of data pipelines, and integration with APIs and other data sources.
  • Accelerate delivery through development of reusable frameworks, prototypes, and agile approaches.
  • Ensure solutions are delivered on time, with high quality and business relevance.
  • Collaborate with partners across Business, Technology, Operations, and D&A capabilities (Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modeling, Data Architecture, Data Science, DevOps, BI & Insights).
  • Engage in open-ended discussions, analyze business challenges, and help develop clarity in ambiguous situations.
  • Communicate and present use cases, solutions, and impact to business stakeholders and mid/senior management.
  • Champion and implement modern data governance and stewardship practices as part of data platforms and analytics solutions.
  • Establish and enforce standards for operational excellence.
  • Track and report on KPIs for solution delivery and data quality.
  • Drive automation and scalability initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor a geographically distributed team of data analysts, engineers, and other specialists.
  • Foster a culture of growth, accountability, and innovation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in data management, analytics, or related fields.
  • Proven record in driving data & analytics initiatives and supporting digital transformation projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with complex production data hub/Lakehouse solutions.
  • Solutioning skills to build trustworthy and efficient data layers for reporting and advanced analytics.
  • Technical expertise in data engineering, data governance, business intelligence, and Data/ML Ops and related software and procedures. Proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience working with Cloud platforms: Azure data factory, Azure functions, and Databricks. Real-time and batch data processing, streaming pipelines with Spark.
  • Performance tuning, optimization, and data quality validation.
  • Integration of large and diverse datasets (internal, external, structured, unstructured).
  • Proficiency in agile delivery methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, written & verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Team management and mentorship experience.
  • Experience in partner & stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SQL, Python, Azure ML.
  • Certifications in Python, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance domain knowledge.
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $88,100 - $117,500. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
