The Opportunity
The Finance Manager – Global Securities Controls and Accounting is responsible for strengthening financial controls, accounting accuracy, and process efficiency across investment portfolios within MetLife’s global operations. Key Responsibilities
• Lead the review, enhancement, and execution of finance and accounting processes related to investment portfolios (fixed income and equity securities).
• Create and maintain subject matter expertise in accounting standards (GAAP, STAT, IFRS, Solvency) and their application to investment products.
• Oversee financial reporting controls, quarterly close processes, and trending analysis to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial results.
• Manage cross-functional collaboration with investment, finance, and accounting teams to ensure alignment and resolution of complex issues.
• Develop and drive automation initiatives leveraging existing technologies to increase efficiency and improve data quality.
• Coordinate financial analysis and reporting efforts, including reconciliation and variance analysis.
• Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations clearly and effectively to senior leadership.
• Provide support for internal and external audits, including documentation and resolution of accounting issues.
Required Qualifications
• Solid experience in Corporate Finance and/or Accounting within public or private companies, or within the insurance industry, applying US GAAP and STAT principles to investment accounting.
• Strong command of Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas) to perform financial analysis and reporting.
• Proven ability to manage people and projects, balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including prioritization, ownership, and delivery of results.
Preferred Qualifications
• Suggested 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or investment-related roles, preferably within insurance or financial services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience with business intelligence and automation tools such as Alteryx, SQL, or Power BI to streamline processes and enhance reporting.
• Familiarity with financial systems such as PAM, PeopleSoft, BI Publish, or other Oracle-based platforms.
• Proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement approach and adaptability to complex environments.
