Role Value Proposition:

The role of Director Enterprise Data Design requires a senior person experienced in data architecture, including conceptual modeling, logical modeling, and business data design, and involves managing a COE and federated team.  This role is crucial for translating insurance business needs into robust, scalable, and efficient data models and designs, ensuring data assets are well defined, integrated, and aligned with organizational strategy.  Additionally, this leader will manage staff at all levels to grow their skills, foster team spirit, and encourage collaboration. The successful candidate will drive best practices for data architecture, modeling, and business data design throughout the enterprise 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies: Align business terms and business concept definitions with logical data modeling, integrating into the data dictionary and data glossary
  • Creation of a conceptual model in collaboration with business stakeholders, analysts, and data domain experts
  • Implement API Library Platform: Partner with technology and infosec to implement an API catalog of approved APIs
  • Federated Target Operating Model Oversight:  Define a governance approach to federated enterprise conceptual data modeling
  • Establish oversight of all enterprise data architecture, including the conceptual, logical, and business data design
  • Define and establish KPIs and reporting

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in data management, data sciences, computer science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise-wide implementation of data architecture, conceptual modeling, logical modeling, and business data design
  • Experience with ERWIN, Collibra, or other Data Modeling and Management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to create simple solutions for complex business problems
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in influencing without authority
  • Experience in modern data stack and operations.
  • Strong project management skills. Experience working in enterprise, complex, large-scale, multi-team programs.

 

Preferred: 

  • Certification as a plus, e.g., MS Certified, Google Certified, Oracle Certified, MongoDB Certified
  • Deep understanding of different database technologies and their tradeoffs, e.g. Databricks, Azure Synapse, MongoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Fabric, AWS Redshift

The expected salary range for this position is $140,000 to $185,700. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
