Guided by our purpose – Always with you, building a more confident future – and our New Frontier strategy focused on stronger growth, attractive returns, and all-weather performance, this is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of actuarial analysis, finance, and business strategy. The role partners closely with Finance, Pricing, Operations, and Quantitative Analytics teams to identify emerging risks and opportunities, improve forecasting capabilities, and deliver actionable insights that influence key business decisions within MetLife’s LTD portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis of Long Term Disability business performance, supporting monthly closes, forecasts, projections, variance analysis, and management reporting activities.
  • Create financial and operational analyses, executive-ready exhibits, recommendations, and reporting that explain performance drivers and support business decision-making.
  • Oversee the validation and reconciliation of data, assumptions, KPIs, and analytical outputs used in forecasts, projections, dashboards, and performance assessments.
  • Manage recurring performance monitoring processes, including incidence, termination rates, claim decisions, severity, receipts, business mix, and other financial performance indicators.
  • Develop projection models, variance explanations, early warning indicators, watchlists, and actionable insights that connect operational and actuarial drivers to financial outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Pricing, Operations, Quantitative Analytics, and reporting teams to measure initiative impacts, support forecasting activities, and enhance Power BI and Alteryx reporting solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, with 5+ years of actuarial experience in insurance supporting financial projections, pricing, reserving, experience analysis, or business performance management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Alteryx, utilizing these tools to perform modeling, business analysis, reporting automation, data validation, and large-scale analytical processes.
  • Strong analytical and modeling capabilities, with the ability to translate operational and actuarial drivers into financial outcomes, forecast assumptions, variance narratives, and business recommendations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to develop assumptions, reconcile results, identify key drivers, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with experience partnering across Finance, Pricing, Operations, Quantitative Analytics, and other key stakeholders.
  • Advanced English proficiency (required), including the ability to prepare and communicate clear, concise, and executive-ready analyses, presentations, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in actuarial analysis within disability insurance, business performance management, financial forecasting, pricing, reserving, or experience studies.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) with progress toward Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
  • Experience with Long Term Disability insurance, including LTD financial performance management, claim incidence analysis, termination studies, and profitability monitoring.
  • Experience with Power BI dashboard validation, reporting governance, and UAT testing to support business intelligence and decision-making processes.
