The Opportunity
In partnership with our Claims organization, the Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant leverages specialized vocational rehabilitation expertise to evaluate claimants’ functional capacities, employability, and return-to-work potential. The consultant develops, coordinates, and facilitates individualized rehabilitation and return-to-work plans that promote recovery, support vocational goals, and achieve optimal return to work outcomes.


Training - 8 - 10 weeks, M-F virtual (8 - 4pm) EST
Shift: 8 hour day + 1/2 hour lunch.  Start time flexible from 7 - 9am EST.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach Claims Specialists on early identification of disability rehabilitation candidates.
  • Manage assigned caseload of complex return to work cases.
  • Apply specialized vocational training and knowledge to the assessment of cases.
  • Act as a resource on vocational and return to work issues.
  • Conduct complex research, review and analysis of work and education history, functional capacity and employability within the context of the Short Term or Long Term Disability plans by completing employability assessments / transferable skills analyses.
  • Provide recommendations regarding claimants’ potential to return to work with or without accommodations.
  • Provide return-to-work solutions through job modifications and accommodations.
  • Engage claimants, health care providers and employers in return to work potential and planning.
  • Collaborate with rehabilitation facilities, job placement services and state agencies to develop appropriate and timely turn to work plans.
  • Monitor the services of vocational rehabilitation vendors to ensure compliance with agreed upon services, quality and timeliness standards.
  • Develop goal-focused rehabilitation plans utilizing the return to work hierarchy.
  • Assess training needs and create, author and present vocational training to claim and business partner associates.

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of Vocational Rehabilitation experience
  • Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or similar Master’s degree
  • CRC - Certified Rehabilitation Counselor
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of computer systems
  • Strong written and verbal communications skill
  • Ability to build strong relationships

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior disability insurance experience
  • Prior experience conducting employability assessments

 

The expected salary range for this position is $72,000 - $80,169. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
