The Opportunity

The Senior Vendor Management Consultant serves as a strategic partner between MetLife Global Technology & Operations and key external vendors that support enterprise priorities. The Senior Vendor Management Consultant leads vendor governance, performance management, and issue resolution across complex services and stakeholder groups. The role uses data, operational insights, and modern collaboration practices to improve service outcomes, strengthen accountability, and manage risk posed by third party vendors. This is an exciting opportunity to work across the GTO organization to drive value and compliance from our third-party relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships for medium to high-complexity engagements, including vendors with significant annual spend, critical services, or cross-functional dependencies.
  • Drive solutions and resolve issues related to external vendors while managing the needs of a variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Lead vendor governance activities such as business reviews, performance scorecards, service level monitoring, contract change management, and escalation management.
  • Analyze operational data, service trends, and vendor performance metrics to identify risks, improvement opportunities, and actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Partner with internal teams across technology, operations, procurement, legal, finance, risk, and compliance to align vendor services with business objectives.
  • Support sourcing and renewal activities by evaluating proposals, defining business requirements, and contributing to service level expectations and governance frameworks.
  • Drive issue resolution for vendor-related service, delivery, and compliance concerns, ensuring timely communication, clear accountability, and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Use approved AI tools responsibly to support your vendor management work.
  • Contribute to vendor risk management by supporting due diligence, control reviews, business continuity readiness, and remediation tracking.

Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of related experience in vendor management, supplier governance, procurement operations, business operations, or a comparable function.
  • Experience leading or supporting cross-functional initiatives, process improvements, or strategic projects in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret service levels, operational metrics, risk indicators, and business trends.
  • Working knowledge of vendor governance, contract management, issue escalation, and performance review practices.
  • Digital and data literacy, including experience with spreadsheets, dashboards, reporting tools, or workflow automation platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to business, technical, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and influence across teams.
  • Customer-focused mindset with sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Comfort using approved AI tools responsibly in day-to-day work.
  • Prior experience in vendor management, contract management, third-party risk, strategic sourcing, procurement, operations or technology.
  • Knowledge of the MetLife GTO organization.
  • Experience building or using dashboards, scorecards, or performance reporting to support vendor governance decisions.
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and work effectively across a complex matrixed environment.
