The Team You Will Join  

Program / Project Execution is a function under the Global Technology Strategy and Operations team whose function is to support MetLife Business partners to deliver value through a structured and disciplined execution strategy.  This highly skilled and experienced team works closely with Global and Corporate Security, Global Infrastructure, Global Technology, Investments, Corporate Real Estate, and other delivery teams across MetLife.    

The Opportunity  

The Principal Program Manager Role is responsible for leading high-impact, cross-functional Global Technology programs across complex environments.  The role is embedded within the Global Technology Strategy & Operations centralized function and is responsible for aligning and driving multi-disciplinary matrixed teams to successful and predictable outcomes.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)  

  • Lead complex, multi-domain and global programs from initiation through delivery.  
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, risks, and interdependencies across enterprise teams.  
  • Ensure value delivery by challenging and facilitating alignment with strategic goals to deliver measurable business value.  
  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable program objectives.  
  • Integrate Global Technology Service and Operations -aligned services such as Performance Insights, Work Management Platforms, Agile Enablement and Financial Management into program execution.  
  • Demonstrate an ownership mindset and independence while navigating ambiguity and change.  
  • Apply learning agility to adapt strategies and solutions in real-time.  
  • Leverage internal and external environments to inform decision-making and drive innovation.  
  • Influence of stakeholders across all levels without formal authority.  
  • Build and sustain strong relationships across business, technology, and operations.  
  • Facilitate executive-level communications and stakeholder engagement.  
  • Apply deep understanding of systems development life cycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and technical platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps, ApptioOne, TargetProcess).  
  • Use data-driven insights to guide prioritization, planning, and performance management.  
  • Coach and develop team members and delivery partners to elevate overall team impact and performance. Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and growth across the program ecosystem.  

  

Required Skills:  

  • 10+ years of experience in IT and business/industry program management.  
  • Proven success leading enterprise-scale programs with strategic visibility.  
  • Demonstrated experience with executive stakeholder management.  
  • Strong technical acumen and experience with agile and hybrid delivery models.  
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, adapt, and lead in complex environments.  

 

Preferred Skills: 
 

  • PMP or PgMP certification preferred.  
  • Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with technology infrastructure and integration platforms within global security, cloud services and/or network technologies.
  • Experience with hybrid Waterfall / Agile delivery environments and transformation.
  • Experience establishing and Maintaining Program / Project Delivery Standards and documentation.
  • Agile Certifications preferred. 
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $121,100 - $165,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
