The Global Rates & Derivatives Trading Team manages government bond and derivative trading across global markets. The team is responsible for the execution of all cash government and government-related bonds across the globe, including both Developed and Emerging markets, as well as derivatives solutions and execution within Public Fixed Income. 

 

The Associate will support the Global Rates & Derivatives Trading Team, with a primary focus on Local Emerging Market Debt. This role involves executing trades, monitoring market developments, and contributing to portfolio strategies within MIM, as well as supporting the broader initiatives of the group.


Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to self-motivate. You’ll collaborate closely with Portfolio Management Teams across MetLife, in an environment where every day is different and presents a unique opportunity to contribute.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Execute trades in global bond markets, with an emphasis on Emerging Markets
  • Execute derivatives trades including FX forwards, futures and swaps.
  • Monitor market trends, economic indicators, daily headlines and geopolitical developments impacting global markets
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers on trade ideas and investment strategies
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk management and portfolio guidelines

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required: 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and succeed in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Degree required.
  • 3-5 years relevant market experience
  • CFA designation or candidacy preferred
  • Knowledge of local emerging markets
  • Trading and order flow management experience
  • Familiarity with platforms including Aladdin, Market Axess, Trade Web and FX Connect

The expected salary range for this position is $125,000 - $136,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
