The Private Capital department is an industry leader in institutional asset origination, managing over $155 billion as of June 30, 2025, across Private Corporates, Private Infrastructure, Residential Mortgage Loans, Alternatives, Middle Market Private Capital, and Private Asset-Backed Securities, and is continuing to experience significant growth. Private Capital strategies seek to invest in high-quality private debt securities that offer attractive yield potential, portfolio diversification, potential downside protection, and asset-liability matching.
Our Investment Grade Private Credit strategies include investments in corporate, private credit, infrastructure debt, and private structured credit issuers that offer portfolio diversification structured for asset-liability matching, managing over $108 billion as of June 30, 2025. We invest in credits whose transactions we believe are well structured, properly priced and have sufficient relative value compared to other investment opportunities. We have access to a wide range of investment opportunities that allow us to be selective on deals.
The Client Portfolio Management team is responsible for overseeing the construction and management of the Private Capital portfolios for MIM’s various clients, as well as contributing to adding new external Private Capital clients by preparing RFP responses, developing model portfolios and consolidating information for ad-hoc requests. There are twelve members of the team, which sits within MetLife’s Private Capital group. The team works alongside Private Capital’s credit group, who is responsible for deal origination and credit monitoring, and is supported by MIM Operations, Legal and Compliance. The team also works with MIM’s Institutional Client Group by providing asset class expertise in support of the sales efforts.
The Associate on the Client Portfolio Management Team plays a key role in supporting senior client portfolio managers. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong analytical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for investment management. This role offers the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of portfolio management, client engagement, and investment strategy within a collaborative and dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the portfolio solicitation process for new private placement and infrastructure debt transactions, including deal origination, allocation, and tracking
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders:
- Gather detailed information, synthesize data and coordinate timely responses to requests for information
- Build pipeline reports
- Utilize internal and external systems (e.g., Aladdin/BlackRock, Allvue, Salesforce) to analyze portfolios, support deal flow, and enhance reporting
- Assist in supporting the sales process, contribute to RFP responses, develop model portfolios, gather product data to highlight the asset class and MIM’s capabilities and create presentation materials.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience
- Exceptional attention to detail, placing a high priority on accuracy and organization
- Problem solver with ability to research solutions and suggest resolutions
- Advanced knowledge of Excel; ability to work with large data sets
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure
- Highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic
Preferred:
- Undergraduate degree; MBA preferred.
- Understanding of credit markets; knowledge of private placements would be a plus.
