MIM’s Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintains a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities.  In addition to sourcing and managing these investments, the groups are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key industry contacts and referral sources.  The mortgage portfolio and equity portfolio units are organized according to specialty, and they actively manage MetLife’s portfolio of mortgage loans and equity investments in agricultural, office, apartment, retail, industrial, and hotel properties. The portfolio units are responsible for overall portfolio strategy, pricing, transaction approval and credit approval on new loans, as well as the active management of the overall mortgage and equity portfolios.  Real Estate Investments sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Whippany, NJ) and four international offices London, Mexico City, Tokyo and Santiago.  

 

The Analyst will join MIM’s Real Estate Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team, with additional responsibilities supporting Syndications team. The Analyst will work closely with Portfolio Managers and regional offices to facilitate the efficient execution of real estate debt transactions, manage pipeline and portfolio reporting, and support the preparation of marketing materials for both internal and external audiences. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with MIM stakeholders across its Real Estate platform and interface with a range of external counterparties within the real estate finance ecosystem.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the review and analysis of prospective transactions, including underwriting support and risk assessment.
  • Support development of debt marketing materials for external distribution
  • Assist with deal execution process from initial marketing through closing, coordinating with internal and external parties – including confidentiality agreements and market feedback tracking 
  • Track and maintain active deal and maturity pipelines, leveraging Chatham Financial Debt Management tool
  • Prepare comprehensive portfolio reports for client presentations; participate in client meetings and presentations as needed.
  • Communicate and coordinate with external counterparties, such as lenders, brokers, and legal counsel, to facilitate deal execution and syndication processes.
  • Work collaboratively with Portfolio Managers and regional teams to support business objectives and provide analytical insights.
  • Support Debt Fund Leverage Facility operation process

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required: 

  • 2-3 years of commercial real estate experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • General understanding of real estate underwriting.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Effective writing skills and ability to synthesize information; confident in preparing and delivering presentations.
  • In order to post for this position, you need the proper work authorization to work in the country where the position is located and not require relocation assistance.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable business-related field required, MBA, CFA or equivalent preferred 
  • Proficient in Excel, ARGUS Enterprise, Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial modeling and Co-Pilot is a plus.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
