Description and Requirements

The Team You Will Join

The Opportunity

The Head of L&D – Global Technology & Operations is responsible for enabling workforce capability and readiness across MetLife’s Global Technology & Operations organization. This role, which can be located in New York, NY, Bridgewater, NJ, or Cary, NC, serves as a senior Enterprise Learning & Development leader, partnering closely with HR leadership and business executives to translate enterprise and business strategy into clear capability priorities that drive measurable performance outcomes.

Guided by our purpose — always with you, building a more confident future — and our New Frontier strategy focused on stronger growth, attractive returns, and all‑weather performance, this is an opportunity to shape how technology and operations teams build the leadership, human, functional, and AI‑enabled capabilities required to execute in a rapidly evolving environment. The role ensures development is applied, reinforced, and embedded into how work gets done—resulting in faster readiness, stronger adoption, and sustained execution.

Key Responsibilities

·         Lead the diagnosis of workforce readiness, capability gaps, and organizational effectiveness in partnership with HR leaders, aligned to business priorities, AI adoption, and transformation initiatives.

·         Create clear, data‑driven capability roadmaps spanning leadership, human skills, functional capabilities, and AI‑related skills in alignment with enterprise and HR strategy.

·         Oversee the delivery of workforce capability development across Global Technology & Operations, ensuring priorities are executed, adopted, and reinforced at scale.

·         Manage partnerships with HR and business leaders, operating as a consultative, outcome focused advisor aligned to strategy and execution needs.

·         Develop applied development, performance support, and change enablement approaches that are embedded into day‑to‑day work rather than delivered as stand‑alone programs.

·         Coordinate enterprise and delivery partners to ensure execution quality, adoption, and measurable impact, balancing enterprise consistency with local relevance.

Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with deep application in learning, organizational capability, or workforce development roles.

·         Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic and systems thinking, with the ability to identify root causes of performance gaps beyond training needs, including organizational and team effectiveness.

·         Strong consultative and executive influence skills, partnering with senior HR and business leaders to drive alignment and results.  Demonstrated strong people leadership, whether direct reports or matrix.

·         AI fluency, demonstrated through using AI across the L&D lifecycle and in enabling AI adoption within a business or functional context.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience accountable for workforce, capability, or transformation outcomes within a region, function, or line of business.

·         Proven success partnering with HR and business leaders on strategy execution, AI adoption, or large‑scale change initiatives.

·         Experience leading applied development and performance support models that materially change how work gets done.

·         Comfort operating in complex, matrixed environments, balancing strategic intent with practical execution and adoption at scale.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is $164,200 - $218,900. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
