At MetLife, data isn’t just a tool - it is a catalyst for growth. As part of our Data & Analytics organization, you’ll unlock trusted insights that drive bold decisions, power personalized customer experiences, and deliver lasting business impact. Your skills in AI, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics will help solve complex challenges, scale solutions globally, and fuel innovation across every region. We’re building the future of data - one that’s governed responsibly, engineered for scalability, and designed for growth. When you join us, you’re not just supporting the business - you’re empowering it. Let’s transform insight into impact and data into action, together.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Data & Information Modeler to support Investment IT by understanding complex business requirements and translating them into governed data structures that support the Investment data ecosystem. The role focuses on maintaining and applying the Investment Domain Model, supporting canonical data design, guiding JSON Schema implementation, and ensuring application and integration designs conform to approved data structures, definitions, and rules. The role operates under general supervision and is expected to support multiple modeling and design efforts across the Investment landscape.

This role requires strong institutional Investment business knowledge and the ability to translate that knowledge into durable, reusable, and business-meaningful data structures that support institutional investment management across asset classes, products, portfolios, accounts, and technology platforms. The Investments business spans public fixed income and equity, private fixed income, real estate, alternatives, and derivative asset classes.

Required Investment Background

Working exposure to investment management business knowledge with opportunity to deepen is essential. The candidate must understand institutional investment management and translate that business data into clear, governed data structures, definitions, and design decisions. This includes familiarity with products, strategies, portfolios and managed accounts, benchmarks, client structures, and risk/return measures. The candidate should also understand the business context in which investment data is used, including institutional client types and structures such as funds, separate accounts, reinsurance, and assets under management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance and evolution of the Investment Domain Model, establishing a shared data language that supports consistent definition, design, and implementation across business functions, asset classes, and technology platforms.
  • Understand business requirements and translate them into logical and implementation-ready data structures for Investment IT initiatives.
  • Support the operationalization of the canonical model by guiding its translation into JSON Schemas and helping ensure conformance to approved data structures, definitions, and data/business rules across applications and integrations.
  • Apply and support best practices and reuse patterns across Investment modeling work. Partner with business and technology teams to define requirements, support adherence to data rules, and promote standardization and reuse across the Investment data landscape.
  • Maintain alignment among the domain model, JSON Schemas, and related documentation so that changes are reflected consistently across platforms and teams. Participate in planning, organization, and execution of multiple and complex data and information design efforts supporting Investment IT.

Required Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of overall work experience, including at least 2 years of experience as a Data Modeler.
  • Broad operational, service, and technical knowledge across multiple Information Technology disciplines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative ability, and ability to negotiate and influence results without direct authority.
  • Investment business knowledge is required (see “Required Investment Background” above); this role is not intended for candidates with only generic financial services exposure.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge in all types of data models and data design, along with the ability to apply modern data design patterns across platforms and use cases.
  • Experience with canonical modeling, JSON Schema governance, and design conformance across applications and integration flows.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of domain, conceptual, logical and physical data model design concepts and relevant database platforms. Hands-on experience with ERwin Data Modeler.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 - $117,400. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
