Description and Requirements
Role Overview
The Business System Analyst will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and translating business needs into clear functional requirements and design documentation. The role supports solution delivery through requirements management, testing coordination, user training and documentation, while acting as a key bridge between business users, BSAs and the IT project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between business users, BSAs and the IT project team.
- Elicit, analyze, document and manage functional requirements, business rules and user needs.
- Facilitate requirement walkthroughs and clarify questions raised during ambiguity reviews with the Testing team.
- Prepare use cases, functional specifications, report requirements and screen prototypes to support solution design.
- Review test cases to ensure alignment with approved functional requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, developers, testers, business users, BSAs and architects as needed.
- Contribute to user guides, reference manuals, training materials and release-related documentation, as appropriate.
People Management
- No direct supervisory responsibility.
- May provide guidance or mentoring to junior team members when required.

Required Qualifications and Competencies
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in business systems analysis or comparable business experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Skills Summary
- Business analysis: Able to understand business needs, capture requirements, assess business impact and translate user needs into clear functional specifications.
- Process and system knowledge: Good working knowledge of operational processes, core application systems, business process design and IT standards, procedures and policies.
- Testing and solution delivery: Experienced in system testing, requirement validation, SDLC activities, use case modeling and business process modeling.
- Communication and facilitation: Able to simplify complex concepts, facilitate discussions, manage relationships and work effectively with business users, IT teams and other stakeholders.
- Documentation: Strong ability to prepare clear technical and user documentation, including specifications, guides, reference materials and training documents.
- Personal effectiveness: Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, critical thinking and customer-focused problem solving.
