Department Overview: MIM’s Operations Department is responsible for ensuring that back office and middle office functions run smoothly, producing accurate results within tight deadlines. The department consists of several sub teams, each of which depend on one another to generate precise output. The teams include, but are not limited to, the following functions:
Trade Processing: As part of the Middle Office team in Operations, interns will gain exposure to the full trade lifecycle across a diverse range of asset classes including Public Fixed Income, Derivatives, Bank Loans, Private Placements, and Real Estate. The team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate trade capture, confirmation, and settlement coordination, acting as a bridge between front office trading desks and back-office operations. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, learn about complex financial instruments, and contribute to process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
Data Integrity Group: manages and maintains databases of critical attributes of each security in our portfolios, so that investment income and other downstream functions such as pricing can be properly supported. Ensure proper security set up and maintains the information flow of pricing sources used in valuing the firm’s investments.
Portfolio Performance Returns and Oversight (PRO) team in Whippany supports the accurate and timely delivery of portfolio Net Asset Values (NAVs) and Performance to our internal and external clients. The team monitors portfolio valuation through a series of controls and screens and delivers monthly and quarterly performance and portfolio reporting to stakeholders in client servicing, investment compliance, risk, and portfolio management. As a member of the team, interns will also contribute to projects related to system functionality and data integrity.
Client Servicing & Reporting: The Client Service Group is responsible for onboarding new clients, managing client reporting, and providing day-to-day service for client relationships. The CSG team is organized into three specialized asset coverage areas: Public Fixed Income, Private Fixed Income, and Real Estate. As part of the program, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization, including those in portfolio management, relationship management, compliance, legal, and operations. CSG also interacts directly with clients to respond to ad hoc requests as they arise. As a CSG summer analyst, you will support the team by following established processes and seeking opportunities to improve and automate workflows to enhance efficiency without compromising accuracy.
All functions within operations are tightly coordinated to guarantee that investment data is accurately and expediently delivered to our clients.
Program Description: MetLife’s Investments Summer Analyst Program offers broad exposure to a global insurance company and investments manager. The program is a 10-week hybrid experience. Summer analysts will develop various technical and soft skills, have the opportunity to network with professionals across the company, and fully immerse themselves in MetLife’s culture.
Investment Headquarters Office (Whippany, NJ): MIM Summer analysts at investment headquarters will be placed into the Operations Department in Whippany, NJ. Here you will work directly with investment personnel, marketing and sales representatives, and legal and compliance associates to gain a broad view of the investment management value chain.
Depending on business unit placement, specific responsibilities may include some of the following:
• Establish strong working relationships with MIM’s Front Office, Compliance, Marketing, Institutional Client Groups, and Finance departments
• Assist in projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of stable processes
• Work with IT partners and others in the enhancement of various systems
• Support internal and external valuation and review oversight processes
• Participate in ad-hoc assignments as determined by the team’s needs and requirements at that time
• Participate in broader MetLife Investments 2026 Summer Analyst Program projects

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree with an expected graduation date of December 2026 to June 2028. Candidates pursuing master's degrees or other advanced degrees are ineligible.
- Must possess a strong academic record and interest in security valuation, investment accounting, and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated interest in finance/economics.
- A strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, and be able to adapt to new challenges.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, remaining detail-oriented and client-focused.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
