Regional Offices (Germantown, TN) perform agricultural mortgage origination, servicing, and portfolio management functions. An analyst working in a regional office may lead or support property and market analyses, assist on the documentation requirements associated with internal investment committee approval, and evaluate specific servicing actions for existing loans. The analyst will also gain exposure to agricultural credit underwriting, asset and risk management , and will work with portfolio managers to support third-party investors. Key responsibilities include:
• Support associates’ efforts to originate new loans and manage an existing mortgage portfolio
• Conduct property underwriting, valuation, and market analysis to evaluate new mortgage opportunities across a range of property types and geographies
• Collaborate with MIM associates, brokers, prospects, existing borrowers, attorneys, appraisers, field service providers and other counterparties in a professional manner to perform due diligence throughout the loan closing process
• Support the preparation of investment memoranda and participate in presentations to investment committee
• Assist with loan asset management functions, including financial statement analysis, appraisal analysis, environmental due diligence, loan monitoring, borrower requests, property inspections, general loan service, and investor reporting
• Perform internal and external ad hoc reporting, pipeline tracking using MIM’s proprietary mortgage production system, and provide systems database support
• Participate in ad-hoc assignments determined by the team’s needs and requirements at that time
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, forestry or related field with sector proficiency preferred
• Prior timberland management, finance or real estate related work experience
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Power BI and Teams, is preferred
• Experience in institutional timberland investment given strong consideration
• Ability to develop, analyze and summarize timberland investment modeling and analysis
• Familiarity with basic timberland industry vernacular, terminology and contract documents
• Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and work well in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced analytical and organizational skills to manage several projects concurrently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated interest in a timberland finance career through academic or industry experience
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for immigration sponsorship, now or at any point in the future.
