Functional Requirements:  

The candidate will complete financial analysis, assignments, or projects for area of responsibility.  He or she will ensure financial analysis, projections and reports are prepared accurately, on time, and in compliance with company/business line requirements.  He or she will enter monthly and yearly forecasts and HC forecasts into corporate expense budgeting systems.  Another key function of the role will be to support and analyze internal functional time study/ cost accounting metrics such as unit cost for trends.

Main responsibilities:

• Budgets expense analysis with assigned business leads. 
• Prepare monthly accountability reports with variance explanations, journal entries and other accounting functions and presents to business leads. 
• Monthly journal entry reclasses and accruals to support budget alignment. 
• Support implementing and coordinating functional time study allocations process and partner with product areas for analysis. 
• Expense Analysis & Reporting for Retirement Income Solutions
• Conduct detailed review, analysis and reporting of business and departmental expenses. 
• Perform data analytics and provide recommendations based on findings as needed.  
• Report and present actual results versus budget and forecast.  
• Understand the impact of one-time items versus those that impact run rate. 
• Partner with business leaders to perform the following: 
• Consult with a business partner to determine appropriate expenses for both forecasting and budgeting/plan setting. 
• In conjunction with business partners, determine expense infrastructure, data reporting, and analysis, needs.  
• Provide recommendations to the leadership team. 
• Support management reporting requirements 
• Headcount reconciliation and reporting 
• Other functions may include creation of new cost centers, hierarchy changes, and budget transfers. 
• Perform special projects at the request of management (Cashflow testing, Pricing support, Claim Study)

Job Requirements

• B.A./B.S. in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
• 5-8 years of financial analysis experience.  Insurance industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of US GAAP
• Extensive Experience with General Ledger, Hyperion:  Global Expense Management, Workforce Planning systems, and Essbase
• Experience with the Corporate allocation process preferred
• Strong understanding of financial reporting practices, principles, and implications of short- and long-term actions/impact.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Demonstrated strong analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communications, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Ability to work under tight timeframes and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others.
• Ability to act with little direction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
