You will be joining the Cyprus Controllers team, which comprises four individuals, including the head of the department. The team is responsible for ensuring that the company's accounting, financial operations and results are running effectively and smoothly.
The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Assist in the process for the month closing process in order to deliver quality and timely reports as per the communicated corporate closing calendar;
- Assist in the preparation of financial results: prepare the monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet Reconciliations in accordance with MetLife guidelines;
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax provisions and annual tax files; ensure that taxes are recorded accurately and in accordance with local legislation guidelines;
- Assist in the preparation of the local Financial Statements and the year-end external audit files;
- Prepare and timely submit any statistical information to the local authorities;
- Collaborate with team members to support projects as per Finance Project Plan or any other project communicated from Regional Office;
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable;
- Liaise with other departments, banks and local authorities
- Prepare all inter-company transactions postings and generate invoices as necessary;
- Conduct regular ledger maintenance;
- Ensure required documentation is accurately collected and properly filed;
- Identify areas of improvement and makes appropriate suggestions;
- Is involved in ad hoc projects undertaken by the department as a means of continuously improving financial operations.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- University degree in Accounting or a related field;
- 3+ years of successful track record within the profession or in a similar position;
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, World and Outlook);
- Fluent communicator in Greek and English, both written and spoken;
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify weak areas through reporting;
- Team player with very good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Resilient personality with the ability to meet tight deadlines and hardworking;
- Experience with computerized ledger systems.
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
- Studying towards completion of professional studies of an accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA) will be considered a plus;
- Familiarity with Finance Accounting ERP software will be considered an advantage;
