Position Overview

As a Senior Accountant at MetLife Jordan, you will be responsible for delivering high end accounting operations and providing financial insights to the finance department that can be used for decision making to support the Company’s management, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee actual figures and compare it with the budgeted figures to ensure that we are aligned with our plan.
  • Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and regulations and liaise with external auditors during audits.
  • Tax Management: Oversee tax planning, preparation, and filing to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Financial Controls: ensure that there is a robust internal financial control to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Analysis: analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights to support business decisions.
  • End of month closing: responsible for end of month closing to ensure the completeness of data related to month-by-month transactions.
  • Bank reconciliations: responsible of preparing, analyzing, solving any pending items in the bank reconciliations.
  • Accounts reconciliations: responsible of reconciling the accounts on the ledger and how it should be reconciled with the different sources among the other departments.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Big four experience is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of local and international accounting standards and regulations, as well as tax laws and compliance requirements.
