The Team You Will Join
The Reinsurance function within MetLife helps the organization to manage risk, optimize capital efficiency contributing to dividend capacity, and to accept risks it otherwise would not, thus contributing to new business growth. It is led by the Global Head of Reinsurance, with activity in MetLife’s EMEA region lead by an AVP Reinsurance lead and supported by a Reinsurance Actuarial team and Reinsurance Administration team. The Reinsurance Actuarial team are responsible for strategic initiatives, reinsurance solution design, supporting administration, governance, and reporting.
The Opportunity
This role will be to support all aspects of activity in the team, working closely with an existing team of actuaries focusing on the following key areas:
1) Reinsurance transaction development and negotiation,
2) analysis and reporting on the EMEA Reinsurance portfolio (both qualitative and quantitative) to executive management team(s),
3) supporting administration in particular with respect to the specification of settlement models, and
4) support implementation of the Reinsurance Change Management Process and ensure compliance with Reinsurance Policy and Strategy.
Success in this role requires 5+ years of experience pricing and structuring insurance or reinsurance products and excellent communication and negotiation skills. The Reinsurance Actuary is responsible for supporting the development of reinsurance transactions and contribute directly to key aspects of that process, in particular actuarial modelling and financial analysis of the cost / benefit of different reinsurance structures. You’ll collaborate closely with the global reinsurance team, EMEA Finance and in-country actuaries in an environment where every contribution is respected, and every perspective is heard.

- Lead the development of analyses to assist in reinsurance decisioning
- Create materials describing impact of reinsurance actions for a broad EMEA management audience
- Oversee the development of settlement models to be used in reinsurance administration
- Manage internal and external relationships including negotiating timelines for deliverables
- Develop models and frameworks
- Coordinate execution of contract documents
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Completion or near completion of a recognized actuarial designation
- Fluency in and creative use of advanced Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to challenge and influence others at all levels of the organisation
- Desire to learn and collaborate
