The Team You Will Join  

 

The Observability Engineering team is a core part of MetLife’s Global IT Infrastructure Department (AIOps), supporting mission-critical systems and services. This team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining observability and AIOps solutions that ensure the reliability, performance, and security of MetLife’s technology platforms. By collaborating closely with operations, DevOps, security, automation, and AIOps teams, the group drives continuous improvement in monitoring, incident response, and compliance across the enterprise. The team leverages AI-driven analytics and automation to deliver unified visibility, accelerate problem resolution, and optimize operational efficiency. 

 

The Opportunity  

 

The Observability Engineer is responsible for leading the development and optimization of monitoring and observability solutions, tightly integrated with AIOps platforms, to safeguard MetLife’s IT operations across multiple countries and regions. This position is essential for enabling real-time insights, rapid incident detection, automated remediation, and compliance with global standards—directly contributing to MetLife’s commitment to delivering secure and reliable services to customers and partners. 

You will work on cutting-edge observability and AIOps technologies, including AI/ML-powered anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation. Your work will help transform traditional IT operations by integrating observability data from diverse sources, automating root cause analysis, and driving proactive incident management. You’ll collaborate with talented professionals, solve complex challenges, and help shape the future of IT operations at MetLife, influencing global infrastructure strategy and making a tangible impact on business outcomes. 

 

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities) 

  • Lead the development and implementation of observability solutions to enhance IT operations monitoring. 
  • Create and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerts for infrastructure management.
  • Oversee the configuration and management of observability tools to ensure consistency and compliance with global standards

 

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications) 

  • Proficiency in observability tools (e.g. Elastic Stack, Grafana, Prometheus, we will consider others please apply if you have any type of observability tools in your skills set).
  • In-depth knowledge of Monitoring & Observability Tools
  • Familiarity of Logging & Distributed Tracing
  • Knowledge of Synthetic Monitoring
  • Understanding of Metrics Collection & Analysis
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

 

What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills) 

  • Suggested 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure observability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Security & Compliance
  • Performance Optimization
  • Knowledge of security best practices in IT infrastructure.
  • Understanding of AIOPs fundamentals
  • Familiarity of ANSIBLE Automation platform would be beneficial.
