The Opportunity
The Automation Lead – Operations is responsible for analyzing, improving, and automating end-to-end operational processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual workload. This role focuses on process improvement within Operations and leverages Microsoft Power Platform (especially Power Automate and Power Apps), VBA, Java, and AI-based solutions to deliver sustainable automation.
The role works closely with Operations teams, business units, business analysts, and the MetLife Group Center of Expertise to streamline workflows and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing operational processes, identify inefficiencies, and define process improvement and automation opportunities
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) for operational workflows
- Apply process improvement methodologies to simplify, standardize, and optimize operational activities
- Develop supporting automation and integration solutions using VBA and Java where required
- Utilize AI and intelligent automation approaches (e.g., decision support, data analysis, classification) within operational processes
- Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot existing Power Automate flows and ensure their stability and performance
- Work closely with Operations teams to translate business needs into technical automation solutions
- Prepare documentation for automated processes and provide training and ongoing support to end users
- Stay up to date with new features and capabilities of Microsoft Power Automate and related Microsoft technologies, and assess their applicability to Operations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in operational processes and process improvement initiatives
- Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform, especially Power Automate and Power Apps
- Strong VBA skills with experience in operational automation
- Java knowledge, preferably for integrations or background automation solutions
- Knowledge of or experience with AI and intelligent automation solutions
- Strong understanding of workflow design and business process automation
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with Operations teams
- Good command of English
