The Opportunity
The Vice President, US Group Product Marketing Leader serves as a strategic partner to the Product, Sales, and Marketing teams and is responsible for shaping how MetLife’s U.S. Group Benefits products are positioned to employers, brokers, and employees. This role plays a critical part in defining the value proposition and market narrative across MetLife’s diverse portfolio including core benefits and voluntary offerings.

 

This is a high-impact, upstream marketing role focused on product positioning, market insights, and strategic storytelling enabling more effective differentiation, customer relevance, and commercial outcomes. The ideal candidate brings sharp analytical thinking, a customer-first mindset, and deep experience developing product narratives that bridge business strategy and human insight.

 

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

  • Value Proposition Development: Craft and refine differentiated value propositions for MetLife’s full suite of Group Benefits products, grounded in customer needs, competitive dynamics, and market opportunity.
  • Product Positioning & Messaging: Define the strategic messaging frameworks that clarify each product’s role, relevance, and advantage within the broader portfolio and benefits ecosystem.
  • Strategic Narrative Building: Develop cohesive stories that connect MetLife’s product capabilities to the changing needs of employers, employees, and brokers—shaping how the brand shows up across touchpoints.
  • Market & Customer Insights: Partner with Research, Product, and Strategy teams to identify emerging trends, unmet needs, and whitespace opportunities that inform product strategy and messaging.
  • Portfolio Storytelling: Establish a clear, compelling narrative that ties MetLife’s diverse product offerings together in a way that resonates with key stakeholders and supports cross-product growth.
  • Thought Partnership: Act as a strategic thought partner to Product, Sales, and Marketing leadership providing insight, guidance, and perspective on how to position offerings for maximum impact.

 

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • 8 -10+ years of experience in product marketing, brand strategy, or strategic communications, ideally in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or technology.
  • Expertise in building differentiated value propositions and translating complex offerings into clear, human-centered narratives.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to synthesize market, customer, and competitive insights into actionable strategies.
  • Experience working closely with product teams and influencing go-to-market direction without owning execution.
  • Exceptional storytelling and strategic writing skills, with an eye for nuance and relevance across audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA or similar) preferred.

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $238,800 to $318,300. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
