Role Value Proposition:   

Seeking a Manager of Software Engineering who is passionate about delivering the right solutions and delivering great products, supporting millions of employees in the United States. Someone who'll take ownership of the delivery of our Disability and Absence product features while driving technical maturity and instituting best practices in product engineering. 

 

An individual will be a leader who brings passion, joy, and positive energy to solve complex business and technical problems in a fast-paced delivery environment. You should have a broad set of skills and enjoy going deep where needed - be it diagnosing a legacy application having heap and GC issues, or figuring out the best way to build a data pipeline, or coming up with a new AI solution for a business problem. You will be engaged with Onshore, Offshore, and Vendor resources. You will be working on Disability Claimant Experience, which ranges from Digital experiences, Communication experiences, and AI solutions. You'll work within a large ecosystem with multiple platforms supporting our products - everything from legacy JAVA and mainframe apps to cutting-edge GenAI-based cloud apps and microservices across AWS and Azure with multiple data and integration technologies. You will be working in an Agile SAFe execution model, working closely with Product management, and other ART leaders to deliver features, support production, support new customer onboarding, testing, and drive the roadmap for maturing our organization's engineering skills and processes.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage a product team that consists of 2- 4 feature teams in the development and maintenance of an E2E IT solution.
  • Responsible for setting, prioritizing, and accepting the work generated by an Agile team to ensure the platform meets the defined goals and vision.
  • Establish and enforce best practices in code control, code reviews, unit testing, DevOps, and application maintenance.
  • Helps identify risks and remove barriers so that the team can move forward in development.
  • Manage and drive audits to conclusions.
  • Full people management responsibility for direct product team, including hiring, engaging talent, firing, promotions, performance, career and compensation management, & training & development.
  • Manages resources to planned feature outcomes, with awareness of over /under utilization and ways to adjust.
  • Technology leader responsible for application feature delivery, Application security & currency, and Production support.
  • Leader with a commercial mindset: Gain awareness of trends in potential new technologies or technology opportunities. Participates in discussions that solve business challenges by leveraging technology.
  • Collaborate with Product management on roadmaps and negotiate delivery timelines. 
  • Collaborate with Architecture and Platform teams to implement solutions
  • Communicate plans and progress to a variety of stakeholders across the organization
  • Budget accountability, Resource staffing responsibility, Vendor management

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related.
  • Relevant experience in managing technical teams, developing and delivering complex technical solutions.
  • Experience in creating technical roadmaps with multiple stakeholders (Product Mgmt., architecture, Ops)
  • Knowledge of secure coding, DevOps, Testing, SRE practices, AI solutions, etc.
  • Proficiency with programming languages, Databases, Cloud technologies, Kubernetes services, etc.
  • Proficiency with integration technologies and patterns (MQ, Kafka, API, ETL)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Preferred: 

  • Master's degree in computer science or related field
  • Some experience with Quadient will be preferred
  • SAFe ADM experienced or certified

The expected salary range for this position is $105,000 to $137,700. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
