MIM’s Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintains a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities. In addition to sourcing and managing these investments, the groups are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key industry contacts and referral sources. The mortgage portfolio and equity portfolio units are organized according to specialty, and they actively manage MetLife’s portfolio of mortgage loans and equity investments in agricultural, office, apartment, retail, industrial, and hotel properties. The portfolio units are responsible for overall portfolio strategy, pricing, transaction approval and credit approval on new loans, as well as the active management of the overall mortgage and equity portfolios. Real Estate Investments sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices in the U.S. and International field offices in London, Tokyo, Mexico City and Santiago.
The Real Estate Debt Analyst will support the Southeast Regional Office Debt Team’s loan origination and loan management efforts for the MetLife General Account, investment management clients, and MIM’s higher-yielding lending strategies.
- Support sourcing and origination of commercial real estate loans through financial modeling, market analysis, and underwriting across property types and Southeast markets.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (brokers, owners, attorneys) to complete due diligence and support transaction closings.
- Prepare investment memoranda and contribute to deal presentations for debt investment committee approval.
- Assist with ongoing portfolio management, including borrower requests, compliance, reporting, lease reviews, inspections, and surveillance.
- Perform financial analysis, valuations, mortgage ratings, and ad hoc reporting, while maintaining pipeline tracking and supporting internal systems.
- 0-3 years relevant experience with demonstrated understanding of commercial real estate valuation and discounted cash flow analysis.
- Results orientated team player. Emphasis on communication skills (both oral and written), ability to handle multiple assignments, strong work ethic, and time management skills.
- Strong quantitative and computer skills, specifically advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Argus Enterprise modeling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Math, Statistics, Liberal Arts, or a related field of study
- Preference given to candidates who have relevant experience and familiarity with the leading commercial real estate market data resources (i.e.-CoStar, CBRE Econometric Advisors, Real Capital Analytics, etc.).
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
