Joining Global Marketing & Communications (GMC) means contributing to the company’s customer-centric growth engine by helping customers live more confident futures. Whether driving external or internal marketing and communications, you’ll be fostering engagement and alignment with MetLife’s purpose and values that enable positive customer experiences. Become part of a dynamic team that harnesses an agile and data-driven approach across paid, owned, and earned channels to deliver meaningful and measurable outcomes for MetLife’s key stakeholders: associates, communities, customers, and shareholders.
The Director, Strategic Insights is responsible for maximizing the commercial and strategic impact of MetLife’s insights by ensuring the organization’s most critical intelligence translates into clear priorities, confident decisions, and growth‑driving actions. This role plays a pivotal part in advancing MetLife’s customer‑centric growth engine by bridging insight and impact across the enterprise.
Guided by our purpose—Always With You, Building a More Confident Future—and MetLife’s New Frontier growth strategy, this role partners closely with senior leaders to transform consumer, market, brand, and competitive intelligence into enterprise‑level narratives, points of view, and decision guidance. As insight volume and complexity increase, this is an exciting opportunity to shape how MetLife focuses on what matters most, turning insight into measurable commercial and strategic outcomes.
- Lead insight activation and decision enablement by translating complex research, data, and market signals into clear, actionable recommendations that inform enterprise, marketing, brand, product, and market strategy.
- Ensure insights address business decisions and priorities, explicitly framing tradeoffs, implications, and “so what / now what” guidance—not just findings.
- Synthesize insights across workstreams including brand, competitive intelligence, foresight, and market insights into cohesive enterprise narratives and strategic points of view.
- Develop executive‑ready storytelling for senior leadership, including CMO‑ and Board‑adjacent audiences, distilling complexity into focused, decision‑oriented materials.
- Exercise strategic judgment to prioritize high‑impact insights, elevating decisive signals while reducing noise and low‑value output.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Brand, Communications, Marketing, Product, and Markets to ensure insights are trusted, adopted, and acted upon.
- Influence without direct authority by building credibility and alignment, serving as a thought partner to leaders navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, and emerging risks or opportunities.
- Drive value realization by collaborating with analytics and measurement teams to assess how insights are activated and improve ROI, speed to action, and clarity of outcomes.
- Contribute to an insight‑led culture that values synthesis, clarity, and decision impact over volume of reports.
- 7+ years of experience in strategic insights, management consulting, strategy, or related roles with increasing enterprise‑level exposure.
- Proven ability to translate qualitative and quantitative research into strategic recommendations and executive‑level narratives.
- Strong grounding in research methodologies with demonstrated ability to challenge assumptions, synthesize inputs, and interpret signals.
- Consulting‑style problem‑framing mindset with the ability to turn ambiguity into clarity.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive storytelling.
- Demonstrated experience influencing senior stakeholders and working effectively across functions.
- Strong commercial curiosity with the ability to link insight to growth, performance, and business outcomes.
- Global experience working across markets, regions, or cultures.
- Prior experience in management consulting or corporate strategy roles.
- Experience in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
- Bachelors degree preferred
The expected salary range for this position is $128,800 - $171,700. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
