An excellent opportunity exists to join the Derivatives Middle Office team (DMO) within MetLife Insurance Investments (MII). The Associate will play an integral part within the Derivatives Trade Processing team associated with our Bilateral OTC derivatives, Exchanged Traded derivatives. The position will engage directly with trading, valuations, risk management, IT, operations, and finance. The responsibilities given below, are well integrated within a strong team culture.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Handle and maintain all hedge relationships in relationship management system, including allocation, linking, resolving breaks, and conducting month-end and QE reviews for Legal Hedge effectiveness sign-off. Maintenance of soft links related to synthetic asset transactions, during origination and rolls
  • Be the primary team lead for all the technical enhancements/deployment for the trade processing systems, including relationship management system, central database and trade matching systems
  • Provide ad hoc reports for Front office, Portfolio Management unit, and other groups. Respond promptly to queries and resolve system or workflow issues, prioritizing as needed. Strong communication, ownership, and expertise are essential.
  • Run weekly and monthly reports for various departments across MetLife including risk and analytics, accounting, front office, and valuations
  • Perform daily and monthly market data validation checks in Murex to ensure accuracy of currency and index rates, manage monthly trade blotter reconciliation between Middle Office and Front Office
  • Work with the portfolio management unit and back office to complete internal asset transfers by identifying, unlinking, and replacing assets being moved in the transfer
  • Work with DTCC, Internal IT and counterparties to meet all the regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with IT and back office to enhance in house derivative system for the linking and allocation of derivatives

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 6+ years of investments operations experience supporting CDS, Foreign Exchange, Interest rate derivatives experience within a financial services firm
  • Trade processing experience in CDS, RCDS, FXS, IRS, FX forwards, futures and options
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and collaborative skills
  • Advanced technical Skills – (VBA Excel macros, SQL, Data management and charting functions in excel)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to meet daily deliverables in a high stress environment

Preferred:

  • B.S. Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or other related field of expertise
  • Knowledge of Murex, Aladdin, DTCC, TriResolve and Bloomberg a plus

The expected salary range for this position is $87,900 - $110,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
