The Corporate Strategy Development Lead operates as a strategic extension of the Chief of Staff, leading enterprise‑level initiatives that drive growth, operational effectiveness and long‑term competitive positioning for MetLife Australia. Guided by our purpose — always with you, building a more confident future — and our New Frontier strategy, this role translates strategic priorities into actionable, cross‑functional programs that deliver measurable business outcomes.
Working closely with the Australian Leadership Team (ALT), Board and global stakeholders, you will play a critical role in shaping strategy execution, enhancing governance and enabling high‑quality executive decision‑making in a dynamic and evolving market environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise strategy execution, translating strategic priorities into structured, cross‑functional programs and ensuring delivery against defined outcomes.
- Drive strategic initiatives as program lead for CEO‑sponsored and enterprise‑critical projects, aligning stakeholders and removing barriers to execution.
- Develop and assess business opportunities, including financial modelling, business case development and strategic evaluation of growth, partnerships and innovation initiatives.
- Support executive and Board governance, delivering high‑quality, insight‑driven reporting, CEO materials and Board papers to enable effective decision‑making.
- Shape market and global alignment, providing forward‑looking insights on market trends and ensuring alignment with regional and global strategy and capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience (10+ years) in strategy, consulting, corporate development or transformation roles within financial services or related industries.
- Proven track record leading large‑scale strategic programs and delivering measurable commercial outcomes (growth, cost optimisation or transformation).
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience in business case development, financial modelling and strategic analysis.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at executive and Board level.
- Strong problem‑solving capability, with the ability to interpret complex qualitative and quantitative information and translate into actionable insights.
- Comfort using AI‑enabled and digital productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft 365 Copilot or similar) to support efficient work outcomes, with sound judgement and adherence to organisational policies, governance and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within life insurance, superannuation or financial services, including understanding of distribution models and regulatory environment.
- Exposure to M&A, partnerships or corporate development activities, including due diligence and market assessment.
- Experience designing or implementing target operating models, transformation programs or customer‑centric strategies.
- Advanced qualifications (e.g. MBA, CFA) and strong proficiency in analytical and presentation tools (Excel, PowerPoint).
