The Opportunity
The AVP of Internal Audit – Global Professional Practices – Audit Solutions, Planning, and Reporting is a highly skilled and experienced leader who will design and implement automated solutions to support the end-to-end audit lifecycle, deliver focused end-user computing solutions, and develop reporting to address internal and external stakeholder needs. He/she will collaborate with Global Technology to ensure ongoing alignment between IA’s technology expectations and GTO’s delivery. This includes coordinating user acceptance testing and reviewing technology performance. He/she will also be responsible for data management, analytics, reporting, and visualization. In addition, he/she will re-engineer and modernize the annual planning and quarterly plan refresh processes; oversee the creation and periodic refresh of the global, risk-based audit plan; recommend strategies on coverage approach; and identify challenges to the proposed audit plan for resolution. The AVP reports directly to the Head of Internal Audit – Global Professional Practices.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities):
Audit Solutions & Reporting
- Continuously understand, analyze, prioritize, and streamline the needs and preferences of the global audit team in performing the end-to-end audit life cycle effectively and efficiently
- Partner closely with GTO to align on IA’s technology needs and priorities; design user experience that is fit-for-purpose for auditors across the globe; ensure solutions align with user expectations and IIA standards; and monitor performance of solutions to ensure that they continue to deliver value
- Coordinate user acceptance testing with auditors to ensure readiness for deployment
- Deliver end-user computing tools and reporting capabilities to communicate audit results, bolstered through use of AI and analytics
- Develop reporting and visualization to address needs of internal and external stakeholders
- Define data governance roles and responsibilities and data management practices to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility
- Perform ongoing and formal benchmarking with peers to continuously identify leading practices and opportunities to enhance the IA function, including planning and execution.
- Implement a framework for metrics validation to assure key metrics are complementary and assessed for feasibility, considering existing capacity, priorities, and the expectations of the Audit Committee, regulators, and ELT stakeholders.
- Report on metrics to bring transparency into performance against planned activities, highlight challenges that require resolution, and provide recommendations on improving performance as needed.
Planning
- Revise the global framework for defining the audit universe and preparing annual audit plan and quarterly refreshes; and oversee execution against the framework across the globe.
- Apply advanced analytics and AI capabilities to identify themes and trends used to inform ELT, the global audit plan, and resource prioritization.
- Collaborate with second and first lines on sharing risk and testing data to enhance auditors’ ability to perform the audit life cycle.
- Review and advise on draft audit plans and provide transparency into resource allocations and resource gaps.
He/she will ideate and socialize changes with the appropriate audiences to influence buy-in prior to implementation of technology changes and effectively evaluate experiences of auditors at all levels and locations to ensure that IA’s solutions achieve the intended benefits for the global department. The AVP will manage a team of experienced auditors and data analysts to design solutions and workflows that elevate auditor experience and align with methodology and IIA requirements. This role will also successfully collaborate with senior GTO leaders to deliver on technology improvements, data storage solutions, and reporting needs.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):
The ideal candidate must be an audit leader with extensive experience in auditing, including leading audit teams and problem-solving. He/she should have demonstrated the ability to influence using data-driven insights, effective storytelling, and negotiation skills when collaborating with other senior leaders within and outside of IA to innovate solutions through adoption of AI, analytics, machine learning, etc.
