The AVP, Business Controls - Global Business Solutions is responsible for the development and ongoing execution of managing GBS risk and control activities globally. The AVP will oversee the measurement and monitoring of risk within Global Shared Services, Global Vendor Management & Procurement, Global Resilience, and Enterprise Change. This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen the level of risk rigor in GBS and the view of the evolving risk and control landscape.

Note that while this role is virtual, there is a strong preference for this position to be located near a local East coast MetLife office such as Cary, NC, Tampa, FL, Warwick, RI, Bridgewater, NJ, Whippany, NJ, or New York, NY.
- Lead and oversee the management of risk by partnering with GBS leaders and their teams to support a culture of risk identification, escalation and timely mitigation of non-financial risks
- Partner closely with senior leadership across Global Shared Services, Global Vendor Management & Procurement, Global Resilience, Enterprise Change, and others to drive a strong risk culture
- Drive alignment of GBS Business Controls with Global Risk Management and Internal Audit functions
- Drive 1st line of defense established best practices in risk management across Global Shared Services, Global Vendor Management & Procurement, Global Resilience, and Enterprise Change
- Serve as a risk subject matter expert by guiding GBS on risk rigor and execution of risk activities, including non-financial risk assessments, control environment reviews, risk-based control testing, issues management, and KPI/KRI development
- Ensure that metrics, reporting, and analytics are developed and executed in a robust and accurate manner and shared with the right levels of leadership in support of risk governance committees
- Understand and communicate impacts of GBS risks and controls to other business areas
- Support and provide thought leadership to the VP, Global Business Controls
- Demonstrate the ability to proactively lead and manage complex programs or on-demand enterprise strategic projects and processes; is responsible for maintaining momentum and ensuring deliverables are met
- Demonstrate strong influencing, communication, writing and facilitation skills. Build relationships at all levels of the organization, including the ability to resolve issues and seek consensus among diverse groups of stakeholders
- Demonstrate strength in identifying key business issues and opportunities and driving results across diverse internal teams
- 10+ years of experience, including a mix of 1st or 2nd line of defense risk management and third-party/vendor risk management, preferably in insurance and/or financial services
- Prior experience directly supporting a VP/Executive level leader, including preparing senior management reporting
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, including proven success in planning, governance, and execution in positions of similar scope and complexity
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
- Experience managing/leading the execution of a multi-faceted risk program, including risk assessment and other risk activities
- Experience driving risk practices in an offshore service model
- Demonstrated ability to drive outcomes
- Problem solver with the ability to translate information into actionable recommendations
- Ability to understand current internal risk management best practices and adapt/implement within area of coverage
- Proven track record of operating effectively in a global and highly matrixed environment
- Strong leadership skills and collaborative partner able to influence and drive buy-in and accountability across the organization
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
- Experience in applying AI tools as part of process improvement/solutions
- Detail oriented and strong track record of providing structure to teams, programs, and projects
- Strong quantitative and critical thinking capabilities
- Prior experience managing or coordinating complex projects, including the ability to create and execute project plans
- Ability to work independently with flexibility and focus in an agile environment
- Experience working with GRC technology, preferably OpenPages
- Able to demonstrate AI fluency, including the ability to effectively use, evaluate, and responsibly apply AI tools to enhance decision-making, efficiency, and work quality.
- Note that this role may require annual travel to India.

The expected salary range for this position is $164,200 - $218,900 This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
