The Opportunity 

The Underwriting Officer evaluates and examines Insurance Applications in order to determine relevant coverage, gathers data, and assesses risk related to qualifying a candidate for health/life insurance. Guided by our purpose – always with you building a more confident future – and ouNew Frontier strategy focused on stronger growth, attractive returns and all-weather performance, the Underwriting Officer will perform risk assessment for Individual & Group Life/ Personal Accident/ Health Products;

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Gathers and assesses background information, including reports, medical and financial records from specialists where appropriate, in order to effectively evaluate the risk involved and to define the respective premium and/or relevant policy endorsements;
  • Follows medical and financial underwriting processes to properly assess each insurance application;
  • Accepts, modifies or rejects an application after scrutiny of all the required documents and studies regarding the risk involved;
  • Cooperates with internal teams;
  • Liaises with Agency administrative staff and Sales force;
  • Prepares ad hoc and monthly reports as well as weekly reconciliations;
  • Supports the Policy Issuance processes;
  • Ensures that internal controls are in place to mitigate departmental risks and that they are thoroughly followed;
  • Ensures required documentation is accurately collected and properly filed;
  • Identifies areas of improvement and makes appropriate suggestions;
  • Effectively utilizes the main administration software capabilities
  • Is involved in ad hoc projects undertaken by the department as a means of continuously improving operations i.e. Projects, System Enhancements etc.

Required Qualifications 

  • University degree in Business Administration or a related area;
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the Insurance industry;
  • Broad knowledge of medical terminology is desirable;
  • Excellent written and verbal knowledge of Greek and English languages;
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • Team player with very good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Resilient personality with the ability to promptly address multiple requests;
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines;
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary software;
  • Confident in decision making;
  • Able to commit to a 10 month fixed term contract (covering Maternity leave)
