Role: Manager of Actuarial Modeling (IT Background)

Modeling & Actuarial Solutions (MAS) is the central actuarial modeling, testing and production team in MetLife. This modeling team in Kuala Lumpur has been set up with the aims to support all the modeling needs in the Asia region, working with the MAS Hong Kong team.  The model will cover all important financial calculations and projections including VNB, US GAAP/LDTI, EC reporting etc. 

Role Value Proposition 

The incumbent will play a key role as an IT expert to provide advice and support to the actuarial modelling team in implementing and maintaining MetLife Asia’s models.  He/She is required to possess knowledge in IT and advanced programming languages but have some actuarial knowledge.

The role is for those IT experts who have interests in learning actuarial knowledge and joining the actuarial profession. The incumbent will be given opportunities to learn practical actuarial knowledge.

Key Responsibilities: 

Play an IT expert role in the actuarial modeling team.  The responsibilities include: 

• Build and maintain the actuarial models in Python or other suitable programming language
• Provide IT advice and support to other team members or the local country counterparts 
• Understand the cutting-edge technology development and trends
• Resolve difficult technical IT issues encountered in the model release process or productio 
• Improve the modeling process and efficiency by utilizing the latest technology 
• Migrate the existing legacy actuarial models to the latest and advanced platform (e.g. Python)
• Closely and regularly communicate with local country counterparts on the model requirements and issues encountered

 CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills: 

• At least 5 years of practical IT experience working but interest in learning actuarial knowledge and joining this profession
• In-depth knowledge and experience in programming skills (e.g. Python, C++), database, parallel computing and/or Azure. 
• Knowledge of latest technology development and trends such as AI, machine learning, etc.
• Knowledge, exams or experience in actuarial, especially actuarial modelling, e.g. Prophet, is a plus
• Strong in communication with peoples from different countries and have different cultures
