Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing effective legal advice and day-to-day legal support to stakeholders in all functions;
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts and agreements;
  • Legal opinion on a range of different projects;
  • Providing advice and ability to deal with a wide range of legal and regulatory matters across the business lines;
  • Responsibilities in data protection based on the requirements of the Bulgarian Data Protection Law; manage data protection issues;
  • Prepare necessary legal documents and advisory information ensuring a quality service is provided to the business;
  • Manage external legal counsel to ensure service standards are met;
  • Manage relationships with business stakeholders to understand business requirements;
  • Participate in legal preparation and execution of business and other decisions and actions;
  • Be an active part of all the Bulgarian strategic projects (collaborate will the local team);
  • Keep contact with the legal and compliance departments of the MetLife European and US home office, to fulfil reporting requirements.

 

To become our next colleague, you’ll have to bring to the table the following:

  • Prior Legal experience in the insurance industry (or financial industry as a background) would be a great advantage (3-5 years);
  • University degree in legal area;
  • Knowledge of Bulgarian insurance / regulatory law;
  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly and ask the right questions;
  • High commercial focus;
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work as a team member, both within the legal function and with business colleagues across the relevant business areas as a true partner;
  • Digital mindset and the desire to make an impact;
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A flexible approach to meet the changing priorities of the MetLife Europe Legal team and the growing businesses.
