EMEA Data Centre Operations and Service Manager

*we will consider applications from European locations where MetLife has a presence. Warsaw, Poland would be the preference.

  

Our company is currently undergoing significant transformation across the EMEA region. We operate six regional data centers that play a key role in supporting our test environments. Historically, each region has managed its own processes and infrastructure independently. However, we are now moving toward a more unified, global operating model. The goal of this transformation is to strengthen our internal knowledge base and improve collaboration between regional and global teams. By consolidating expertise and standardizing our practices, we aim to increase efficiency and reduce duplication of effort. This shift will also allow us to provide more consistent and scalable support worldwide. This transformation also focuses on improving collaboration with our internal business partners and responding more effectively to their needs.



The Team You Will Join 

 

You will join the EMEA Data Centre Platform Team supporting 6 Data Centers across EMEA.  This is a newly formed team that has the goal of delivering a first-class solution for MetLife.

 

The Opportunity 

 

The EMEA Data Centre Operations and Service Manager will primarily be responsible for overseeing the daily, secure, and efficient functioning of technical facilities, within our data centers, and critical infrastructure like power and cooling. The EMEA Data Centre Operations and Service Manage will drive process improvements, maintain high SLA standards, manage incident/change processes, and ensure safety compliance. The The EMEA Data Centre Operations and Service Manage will interact on behalf of MetLife with the Data Centre providers.

 

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)

 

  • Operational Management: Maintaining existing in-house or co-located data centers and assisting with the launch of new facilities.
  • Service Delivery: Implementing IT service methodologies, including incident, problem, and change management.
  • Managing the integration of the MetLife Technical teams with our DC partners technicians, fostering professional development, and ensuring high performance.
  • Infrastructure & Safety: Overseeing AC/DC power distribution, cooling, and adhering to strict health and safety standards.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinating with external vendors and contractors for maintenance and infrastructure needs.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Creating, tracking, and analysing metrics to drive efficiency and process improvements.
  • Ensuring the Data Centre Infrastructure Management software and asset details are fully maintained
  • Working with MetLife Technical teams and external Vendors on DC migrations



What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • Data Centre Migration Design and implementation experience, including planning and the strategy to complete from start to Finish
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role:
  • 5+ years of people management experience within an IT or critical environment.
  • Technical Skills: 
    • Knowledge of infrastructure (network, servers).
    • Strong knowledge of system administration, software development, networking, and cloud technologies. 
    • Analytical skills: Ability to analyse complex systems, assess risks, and solve problems. 
    • Communication skills: Excellent ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
    • Leadership and strategic thinking: Capacity to provide technical guidance, manage projects, and think strategically about future needs. 
  • Financial Acumen: 
    • Understanding of CapEx and OpEx budgeting.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work as part of a creative team.
  • Attention to detail: dedication to quality and excellent documentation skills are key.
  • Team Player & Hands-on work style with advanced communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with global teams
  • Proactive in nature: can-do attitude

 

What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)

  • Knowledge of replication Technologies
  • Experience with Arista and Cisco Networks
  • Linux tools installations and configurations including network knowledge and database experience (Apache, Tomcat, HTTP, Oracle, MySQL)
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Hyperconverged systems (VxRail)
  • Familiarity with a wide range of network platforms
  • Familiarity of Storage Area Networks
  • Familiarity with a wide range Backup Technologies
  • Familiarity with Cloud Backup Solutions
