Getting to know MetLife through our latest Sustainability Report – and how we show up today

Yes, the report is grounded in 2025, but the programs and practices stick with us. If you’re curious about what it’s like to work here, this is a great place to start.

Our Sustainability Report is more than a recap. It reflects how we turn our purpose into action and the impact we work toward every day – for our people, customers and communities.

What is it like to work at MetLife?

Here’s what stands out from our latest Sustainability Report:

  • We invest in our people and their growth
  • We support customers in meaningful, real-life moments
  • We give back to communities around the world
  • We operate responsibly with the environment in mind

1. We invest in our people

At MetLife, sustainability starts with our people. In our 2025 Sustainability Report, you see that in how we invest in our workforce by creating an environment where people can grow over time, share feedback openly, and build the skills they need for what’s next.

  • The report highlights how we share feedback through programs like MyVoice and our CEO-led global Let’s Talk, Live! sessions, where employees across the company take part in open conversations that help shape how we work and where we focus.
  • It also points to ongoing learning and growth. Through our AI Academy and platforms like MyLearning and Growing@MetLife, along with programs like Coaching@MetLife and our internal talent marketplace, MyPath, we're building new skills and have opportunities to put them into practice.

2. We support customers in moments that matter

In 2025, we supported more than 100 million customers globally, with needs ranging from financial decisions to growing a family, managing health and planning for the future. Alongside that, we focused on helping people better understand and use their benefits, and shared what we’re learning along the way.

  • Tools like Upwise1 and My Leave Navigator are helping both our people and customers better understand their benefits and get support when they need it, including taking leave to care for family or recover from illness.
  • Research like our annual Employee Benefit Trends Study also shares what we’ve learned about how employees view and use their benefits, and what they’re looking for from employers.

3. We support our communities

Through MetLife Foundation and employee-led efforts, we focus on expanding economic opportunity, supporting financial well-being, and strengthening the communities where we live and work. In 2025, that included more than $31.5 million in global grantmaking by MetLife Foundation and more than 160,000 employee volunteer hours.

  • There are opportunities to give back through global initiatives like Signature Days of Service and volunteer time off. Last year, that included mentoring students, working with nonprofit organizations and supporting efforts across education, workforce development, and financial health.
  • Employees also get involved through our MOMENTUM networks, where people across the company come together to organize volunteer events and support causes in their communities.

4. We operate responsibly with the environment in mind

Environmental sustainability is also part of how we run our business day to day. In 2025, that showed up across our global footprint, from how we manage our offices to the partners and projects we invest in.

  • This includes efforts like generating renewable energy at select office locations, prioritizing green building standards, and investing in solutions like converting biomass into biochar to help reduce wildfire risk.
  • It also extends beyond our own operations, from engaging suppliers on reducing their emissions to investing in projects that support resilient infrastructure, affordable housing and access to clean energy.

A few snapshot moments from the report

There’s a lot in the report, but a few moments stand out:

🌱 We plant a tree for every new hire to mark the start of their career at MetLife

🌳 We’ve planted nearly 3 million trees since 20202

🌍 Employees contributed more than 160,000 volunteer hours in 2025, supporting communities around the world

🤖 We introduced MetLife's AI Academy to help employees build AI skills and apply them in their work

Taken together, these moments reflect how we show up day to day – supporting our people, showing up for customers, giving back to our communities, and operating responsibly as we continue to grow and evolve. They also give a sense of the kind of culture we’re continuing to build, one where we keep learning, improving, and bringing our people along as we go.

And if you’re getting to know MetLife, that’s a pretty good place to start.
