직무 설명 및 자격 요건

Job Purpose

The Senior Legal Advisor is responsible for providing strategic and operational legal support to MetLife Jordan, ensuring full compliance with Jordanian laws, insurance regulations, and MetLife global policies. The role acts as a trusted advisor to business leaders, supports risk management, and safeguards the company’s legal and reputational interests while enabling business growth. 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Business Support

  • Provide timely and practical legal advice to management and business functions on corporate, insurance, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.
  • Support business initiatives, product launches, partnerships, and strategic projects from a legal and compliance perspective.
  • Interpret and advise on the impact of new or amended laws, regulations, and regulatory instructions relevant to the insurance and financial services sector.

 

2. Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure MetLife Jordan’s operations comply with Jordan Insurance Directorate / Central Bank of Jordan regulations, local laws, and MetLife internal governance standards.
  • Act as the primary legal contact with regulators, external counsel, and industry bodies, as required.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and reporting requirements from a legal standpoint.

 

3. Contract Management

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and approve a wide range of agreements, including:
  • Insurance-related agreements
  • Distribution and bancassurance agreements
  • Vendor and outsourcing contracts
  • Service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Confidentiality and data protection agreements
  • Ensure contracts are aligned with company risk appetite and approved legal standards.

 

4. Corporate Governance

  • Ensure compliance with MetLife global governance requirements and local corporate law obligations.
  • Advise on internal policies, codes of conduct, and governance frameworks.

 

5. Litigation & Dispute Management

  • Manage and oversee legal disputes, claims, and litigation involving MetLife Jordan.
  • Coordinate with external lawyers, monitor case progress, and control legal costs.
  • Advise management on dispute resolution strategies and potential legal risks.

 

6. Employment & Labor Law Support

  • Provide legal advice on employment-related matters, including contracts, disciplinary actions, terminations, and labor disputes.
  • Support HR in ensuring compliance with Jordanian Labor Law and internal policies.
  • Review and advise on HR policies, employee handbooks, and internal procedures.


7. Risk Management & Training

  • Identify legal risks and proactively recommend mitigation measures.
  • Contribute to enterprise risk management discussions from a legal perspective.
  • Deliver legal awareness sessions and training to business and functional teams, as needed.

 

Job Specifications

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) – mandatory
  • Master’s degree in law (LLM) or professional legal certifications – preferred
  • Licensed to practice law in Jordan (Jordan Bar Association membership) – required

 

Experience

  • 8–12 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within: Insurance companies, Financial services or banking sector, Reputable law firms with insurance/financial services exposure, Proven experience dealing with regulators and managing complex contracts and disputes.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Jordanian insurance laws and regulations
  • Corporate, commercial, and labor law
  • Contract drafting and negotiation
  • Ability to translate complex legal matters into clear, business-friendly advice
  • Experience working within a multinational or matrix organization is an advantage.

 

Language Requirements

  • Arabic: Native or fluent
  • English: Fluent (spoken and written)


Reporting Line

  • Reports to: Regional Head of Legal Levant & Gulf
  • Works closely with: Compliance, Risk, HR, Finance, Operations, and Regional Legal teams
