The PABF team sits within MIM’s Private Capital team which manages $148.2 billion (03/31/2025) in private corporates, asset-based finance, and infrastructure debt and is an industry leader in private debt with a 100+ year history of originating private debt.  

 

The PABF team at MetLife Investment Management (“MIM”) is responsible for investing in primarily in privately placed, non-broadly syndicated asset-based finance opportunities across a variety of sectors and deal types.  The PABF team manages a portfolio of approximately $8.8 billion 03/31/2025) of asset-based transactions on behalf of MIM’s affiliated and unaffiliated clients.

 

 

The Opportunity 

 

 As the Private Asset Based Finance- Senior Director, you will be an investment professional supporting the PABF team in the origination, execution, and management of primarily investment grade private asset backed finance opportunities across a wide universe of industries and sectors. In addition, the Senior Director will support the team’s whole loan securitization efforts, with a focus on wholesale loan purchases and forward flow arrangements. Finally, the Senior Director will also support administrative, marketing, and data projects related to the PABF team.

 

 

 How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities) 

 

  • The ideal candidate will have proven experience in originating, executing, and managing asset-backed finance transactions
  • The candidate will work on both existing and new transactions across a variety of sectors including - Fund Finance, Consumer and Commercial ABF, Mortgage and CRE, and new emerging esoteric asset classes.
  • Primary responsibilities include - due diligence, credit underwriting, cash flow modeling, relative value analysis, and legal documentation for transactions.
    1. Preparing and defending investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
    2. Taking a lead role in monitoring and risk-managing investment portfolios on an ongoing basis, and ensure compliance with credit and regulatory requirements
    3. Collaborating with multiple functional groups across the organization to deliver innovative financing solutions to the GA and our Third-Party Clients.
    4. Develop meaningful relationships with external counterparties.


 What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications) 

 

  • [12-15+] years of relevant work experience, including private credit investing, banking, legal, and/or consulting/advisory.
  • Experience with cashflow modeling, wholesale loan purchases, and forward flow arrangements is highly desirable
  • Strong team-player with excellent analytical, problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, and balance multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative; able to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced work environment.
  • The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to mentor junior bankers and manage complex transactions.
  • Bachelor's degree; MBA or a CFA designation preferred

The expected salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
