Whether it’s taking charge of external financial reporting - from SEC filings to US GAAP and local regulatory standards - owning and supporting the general ledger and other financial systems, diving into accounting and internal controls, or leading expense management and corporate financial planning, you’ll play a vital force in shaping the financial future of one of the world’s leading institutions.
The Manager-Finance is responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting of the enterprise’s reinsurance business. As a key member of the Reinsurance Controller’s team, this role supports quarterly and annual reporting deliverables relied upon across the MetLife enterprise to complete related filings accurately and on time. This position offers a high-impact opportunity to lead the delivery of precise and timely reinsurance reporting data, supporting both GAAP and statutory financial outcomes. - Lead accounting and reporting activities for the reinsurance business, including quarterly and annual regulatory reporting, surveys, and related disclosures.
- Partner with lines of business, administrative teams, and actuaries to ensure reinsurance reporting requirements are met and aligned with stakeholder needs.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, data quality, and control execution.
- Implement accounting and reporting changes in response to regulatory or reinsurance policy updates.
- Supervise and develop staff, including oversight of deliverables, review/approval of work, and ongoing training and guidance.
- 8+ years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or a related finance function, with at least 2 years of leading people or projects.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with sound analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Extensive knowledge of STAT and GAAP accounting principles, practices, and reporting requirements, including advanced Excel proficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, collaborate across teams, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive and adaptable mindset with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, MBA, CMA, or progress toward a professional credential.
- Experience in insurance or reinsurance accounting and reporting.
- Proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools such as Workday, HFM, Smart View, Alteryx, OAC, Cubus/Essbase, or PeopleSoft.
The expected salary range for this position is $93,200 - $124,300. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
