Global Government Affairs is part of the Government and Legal Affairs organization. We are a forward leaning team that works with business lines and enterprise functions on MetLife’s public policy engagement at various levels of government in the U.S. and across the globe. The Opportunity
Full-time position providing executive-level administrative support to the head of government affairs, and other team members as needed, including but not limited to company officers, directors, and others. The position also includes general office duties.
The Executive Assistant (EA) to the Head of Global Government Affairs provides high‑trust executive support and business operations coordination for a leadership office that engages with high-level company executives as well as policymakers, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders. The role ensures the leader’s time, information, and commitments are orchestrated seamlessly, while upholding the highest standards of accuracy, discretion, responsiveness, and stakeholder management across a complex, global portfolio. How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Provide clear verbal and written communications
- Provide executive-level administrative support to the head of government affairs, and other team members as needed, including managing complex calendar, schedule, and travel management, expense reporting (domestic and international), meeting preparation, troubleshooting IT issues, and document management
- Coordinate multiple internal and external meetings and events involving senior leaders in the company and external resources, including contact with government offices (e.g. congressional offices, Executive Branch offices, regulatory agencies, and other third-parties) and external industry stakeholders (e.g. trade associations)
- Assist in the preparation and production of complex materials for meetings and events with business lines, internal functions, and external groups, including producing impactful PowerPoint slides that may require confidential treatment
- Assist in streamlining information flow
- Support low to medium complexity projects with senior staff supervision as needed
- Assist in the general operations of the office and other processes
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 5+ years of executive assistant experience, preferably supporting C-level or dual-role executives
- Possess a self-starter/ownership mindset
- Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, plan for contingencies, manage and prioritize concurrent tasks and follow-ups
- Flexibility to move between competing priorities as needed/directed
- Deliver quality results while operating within MetLife’s values and ethical standards
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient technology user and adopter of emerging innovations
- Keen design skills for impactful slide presentations
- Excellent ability to search, organize, evaluate, and present information—oral and written
- Ability to recognize opportunities to improve and stream-line processes
- Superb inter-personal skills, demonstrating an ease with interacting professionally – at senior levels - within and across functional teams and with key stakeholders
