The team provides the core data, modeling, and reporting capabilities used to support cost transparency, financial planning, and strategic decision-making across the Global Technology & Strategy Organization (GTSO).

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on individual contributor to support and enhance MetLife’s Apptio Financial Management Platform. This role will focus on the configuration, operation, and optimization of Apptio Costing and Planning modules, with opportunities to support cloud financial management capabilities through Apptio Cloudability. The ideal candidate brings strong technical and financial acumen, thrives in a hands-on environment, and is passionate about delivering accurate, scalable, and actionable financial insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a hands-on technical resource supporting the Apptio Financial Management Platform, with primary focus on Costing and Planning modules.
  • Design, build, and maintain Apptio models, allocations, calculations, and business rules to support IT cost transparency and financial planning use cases.
  • Configure and enhance dashboards, reports, and user interfaces to support finance, technology, and business stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with the TBM Office, Service Financial team, Portfolio Management Office, and Technology teams to translate business and financial requirements into scalable Apptio solutions.
  • Import, transform, validate, and reconcile data from multiple systems of record (e.g., General Ledger, ServiceNow, Asset Management, Procurement, Cloud platforms) in alignment with data governance standards.
  • Operationalize recurring data load, validation, and certification processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and auditability of financial data.
  • Support planning and forecasting processes within Apptio Planning, including cost driver modeling, scenario analysis, and variance analysis.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of platform performance, data quality, and model design.
  • Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise on Apptio best practices.
  • Support Agile delivery activities, including backlog refinement, sprint execution, and release management.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience configuring and supporting Apptio Costing and/or Planning modules.
  • Strong understanding of Technology Business Management (TBM) concepts and IT financial management principles.
  • Proven ability to model financial and operational data within Apptio.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, and data validation.
  • Experience analyzing large, complex datasets and presenting clear, concise insights.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience working in an Agile or SAFe environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and financial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in financial systems, analytics, or technology financial management using the Apptio platform.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Apptio Cloudability or cloud financial management / FinOps practices.
  • Experience with enterprise analytics and reporting tools such as Apptio, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with APIs with systems like APIM and Azure Dev Ops or APIC.
  • Working knowledge of relational database concepts and data integration patterns.
  • Experience with scripting, data transformations, or automation related to reporting and analytics.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and service domains, including cloud, data centers, networks, applications, and end-user services.
  • Prior experience in financial services or a large enterprise environment.
  • Relevant certifications (Apptio, TBM, FinOps, Agile).
