Position: VP, Chief of Staff for the Chief HR Officer
Location: 200 Park Ave, New York, NY
Setting: Hybrid (3-days in the office)
Reports to: EVP & Chief HR Officer (CHRO) at MetLife
The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the EVP & Chief HR Officer (CHRO) at MetLife, the Chief of Staff (COS) role is a dynamic position that serves as a trusted advisor to the CHRO and key stakeholders. The COS will leverage their expertise in human capital management to provide strategy development and execution, organizational planning, and change management for cross functional initiatives. This thought leader will utilize analytical insights, demonstrate critical thinking and strength in both written and verbal communications. In addition to the HR community, the COS interactions will include senior leaders across the company, respective chiefs of staffs for the executive leadership team, and external partners.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities):
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with CHRO and HR Leaders to develop and implement HR initiatives to enable company performance. Monitor HR key performance indicators and identify risks and opportunities.
- Recognition & Sustainability: Lead implementation of internal recognition programming, including strategy and planning. Partner with cross functional teams to deliver on reporting for sustainability strategy and global employer surveys (i.e. great place to work) –which garner external recognition for the company.
- Project Management: Lead or support high impact projects and initiatives with cross functional teams to deliver on HR agenda (internal and external recognition, sustainability reporting)
- Internal & External Engagements: Develop briefings for CHRO engagements with internal and external stakeholders. Preparation will include writing talking points, anticipating questions, developing PowerPoint presentations, and creating reference data. Partner closely with Communications partners to ensure voice of CHRO is well represented.
- Leadership Meetings: Planning for leadership meetings and strategic reviews. Coordinate with CHRO and senior executive assistant on calendaring, including preparation for market site visits.
- Change Management: Lead design and execution of change management strategies to support awareness and effective implementation of HR initiatives. Assess the impact of change initiatives and develop action plans to address key challenges.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform decisions.
- Expertise in the human resources discipline gained in HR or human capital consulting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Display strong quantitative, critical thinking, and data storytelling.
- Demonstrate well-established project management skills, managing multiple priorities and agility to pivot as needed.
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem solving, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
- Excellent collaboration skills and relationship building at all levels of the organization and with external partners.
- Demonstrate influencing and direct leadership skills with executive credibility in a complex, global, and highly matrixed environment.
- Have 10+ years of experience, preferably within HR and gained via global insurance/financial services/ or consulting organizations.
- MBA or other advanced degree (preferred).
