The Compliance team at MetLife in Madrid is dedicated to ensuring ethical business practices and adherence to regulatory requirements, providing a dynamic and rewarding environment for its members.
The compliance team is responsible for assisting senior management in effectively managing the compliance risks faced by the company, acting as the second line of defense.
They serve as the point of contact for any compliance-related questions or issues from employees and ensure that all team members are trained in all necessary aspects of compliance rules and regulations.
The compliance team also supports key company projects, collaborating with the legal department to ensure that regulatory changes impacting MetLife are communicated and addressed appropriately.
The Opportunity
Working in the Compliance department at MetLife in Madrid offers a dynamic and rewarding experience. As a Compliance Specialist, you will engage in a variety of tasks designed to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance. The role demands a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of regulatory landscapes, both local and global. Your daily activities will include assessing and mitigating compliance risks, while fostering a culture of integrity and ethical business conduct within the organization.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Updating, developing and reviewing policies and procedures and assist with the implementation within the organization.
- Anti-money laundering and sanctions matters: monitoring and analyzing suspicious transactions, KYC, conducting risk assessment for AML/Sanctions to identify and evaluate the organization’s risk exposure and adapting the process and policies accordingly.
- Support with the Testing and Monitoring activities plan for the company.
- Risk Management. Monitoring the risk and controls inventory for compliance risks, identifying potential areas of compliance risks and develop issues and action plan when needed.
- Prepare and assist with reporting for the key areas of the department (ABC, AML, Privacy, Sales, Fraud) and support with the reporting for senior management for Risk, Audit and Compliance Committees.
- Stay updated with the latest regulatory changes.
- Work closely with different departments to monitor and implement compliance practices ensuring we stay aligned with legal requirements.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Financial Service employment background, insurance or banking sector
- Master in Compliance/Cescom certification or similar
- Compliance 2LOD experienced
- 3 to 5 years previous experience in Compliance, Regulatory role, Legal, Audit or Risk.
- Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulation, Anti-Money Laundering and Insurance Legal and Regulatory Framework (desired general knowledge of Insurance Distribution Directive and Anti-Money Laundering for life insurers).
- Fluent in English, Spanish and/or Portuguese (not essential but a plus).
