MIM’s Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments maintains a portfolio invested in commercial real estate and agricultural mortgages, as well as real estate equities.  In addition to sourcing and managing these investments, the groups are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key industry contacts and referral sources.  The mortgage portfolio and equity portfolio units are organized according to specialty, and they actively manage MetLife’s portfolio of mortgage loans and equity investments in agricultural, office, apartment, retail, industrial, and hotel properties. The portfolio units are responsible for overall portfolio strategy, pricing, transaction approval and credit approval on new loans, as well as the active management of the overall mortgage and equity portfolios.  Real Estate Investments sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Whippany, NJ) and four international offices (London, Mexico City, Tokyo and Santiago).  

 

The analyst position plays an integral role in the MetLife Investment Management Real Estate group. The analyst will assist with various aspects of asset origination and management of MetLife’s $65 billion commercial mortgage portfolio.  The analyst will provide analytical support to MetLife’s commercial real estate lending strategies and portfolio management related to MetLife’s debt Investment Management platform.

  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide regular origination and portfolio updates to DSG Senior Leadership Team
  • Contribute to the timely analysis of potential transactions presented to the Investment Committee
  • Contribute to the efficient oversight and processing of loan maturities, modifications and workouts
  • Create, update, and manage excel models and reporting to increase efficiency of the real estate debt team and maintain detailed tracking of real estate debt portfolio
  • Help liaisons and Portfolio Managers with and provide information for key constituent groups including Regional Offices, Research, Valuations & Analytics, Accounting, Finance, Compliance and Client Services Group.  Develop relationships with key contacts through both verbal and written communication.
  • Help maintain and enhance information gathering systems; assist in developing and testing system enhancements; assist regional offices in understanding system processes
  • Assist with quarterly and ad hoc presentations for the real estate debt team, internal and / or third-party investors
  • Ad hoc requests and projects

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required: 

  • 0-2 years’ relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication 
  • Excellent PC skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage several projects concurrently

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business
  • Prior finance or real estate related work experience
  • Ability to solve problems, prioritize and work well in a small team environment

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
